Prayer Link Conference Call for July 10
John Franklin submitted the following questions to be ready for discussion and direction.
Questions For Preparation
1. What do you bring to the table?
In other words, what do you sense is your calling from God and how does
your ministry function?
I have a voice that calls the people of God, specifically in relation to our group, the SBC to prevailing prayer. I am called to pray, to teach and share on prayer; I am called to intercession. This intercession for the nations, for His church, for indivduals is about what God sees and what is on His heart. His revealed will to prayer accordingly to that which He reveals and shares. I also have pastored for 30 years in SBC churches. Currently pastoring 2 small rural churches; and maintain my prayer groups from Broken Before the Throne.
2. From God’s perspective as best you know, how could our prayer network most benefit the local churches in the SBC?
It would be the tool to go to for churches, pastors, associations, state conventions and entities of the SBC to draw help and materials from. The network as well could harmonize the efforts to reach and cover the vast scope of SBC life. For example: "Who's covering this issue? this city? this region? this nation? these schools? etc." It would provide targeted affect upon SBC.
3. What kind of network would enhance or benefit you in carrying out your assignment?
There should be considered a monthly or bi-monthly check up. Times to prayer regionally or yearly in an area for specific needs. Creating the opportunity for pastors and churches that are not praying, or are looking for our ministry of prayer to come and see and participate in prayer times. This may open up the opportunities to continue a spirit of prayer in the SBC.
4. In what ways could we help churches seek revival?
1. It cannot be assumed they know what real revival is. too many I still see use the term 'revival' for evangelism and awakenings. The difference and definition of the terms must be established, so that we are talking about the same thing.
2. History, biographies and collection of records to testify of how, when, where and with whom revivals came in days gone by. The understanding of revival is testified greatly in these accounts. And it fuels and whets the fire for appetite to revival.
3. The means to seek toward that end of church, Christians doing their part to accomplish this. Prayer, fasting, Scriptures, time, and holiness.
5. What are going to be the challenges for this network?
As has been our continued issues of people giving themselves to prayer . Psalm 109:4, "I give myself unto prayer'. Time to be given to prayer as well as the people giving themselves to prayer. Our hindrances are too busy, other responsibilities,
