ACTIVITY OF GOD IN THE BIBLE - LEVITICUS

The Activity of God

Going through the Bible, book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse, phrase by phrase and word by word to give attention to the following:
--the Names of God;
--the word & deeds of God;
--the sayings of God;
--the attributes of God;

Too often the churches weakness and the Christians weakness is found in this one sin, 'we do not know God'.  We have not studied the Bible, nor Him to learn more of Him.  Seeking that this might be a help for myself and others in this pursuit that each of us 'may grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord.'

26:26   And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight, and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.   God will break them and take away food;
26:27   And if ye will not for all this hearken unto Me, but walk contrary unto Me;   God warns of not listening to Him, but walking contrary unto Him;
26:28   Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will cahstise you seven times for your sins.   I will's of God to punish and chastise them 7X more for their continued sins;
26:30   And I will destroy your high places and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and My soul shall abhor you.   I will's of God to destroy idolatry;  God abhors them for their sin and disobedience;
26:31   And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will nto smell the savour of your sweet odours.   I will's of god to make their cities wasted and bring them to desolation;  I will's of God to not smell nor receive their incense offered;
26:32   And I will bring the land into desolation and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it.    I will's of God to bring land into desolation;
26:33   And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you:  and your land shall be desolate and your cities waste.   I will's of God to scatter them and send sword after them;  God will make land and cities desolate and empty;
26:36   And upon them that are left alive of you, I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies;     I will's of God to send great fear and faintness of heart while they are in captivity;
26:40   If they shall confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against Me, and that also they have walked contrary unto Me    God gives directive to make wrongs right for walking contrary unto Him, trespassing against Him  and His ways;
26:41   And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies;    God walks contrary to those that walk contrary unto Him; and sent them into the land of their enemies for captivity;

26:45   But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought froth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God:  I am the Lord.   I will's of God to remember covenant;  God brought them out of Egypt to be their God;  God declares His Name;

PLEASE GOD

Please God

June, 2018

One of the great things about the Word of God is that it is inexhaustible for study by the child of God.  Learning what is written in the Word of God teaches us to know what God has said and done.  Multiple word studies and phrases are such expression in the Bible to teach us about God.  One such phrase that I have marked and am marking in Scripture is the phrase regarding that which pleases God, pleased God or displeased God.  This phrase is found multiple times throughout Scripture.

I have not marked them all down on paper,  but have sought to find them all in Scripture and mark them in my bible.  With my blog now, I will share these with you in book, chapter, verse and perhaps a devotion with some of them.

(I am mid-way in my bible reading and will pick up from here and will start again in Genesis later on.)

LEVITICUS
17:10, "And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eatesth any manner of blood:  I will even set My face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people."

20:3, "And I will set My face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people:  because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to defile My sanctuary, and to profane My holy Name."

20:5, "Then I will set My face against that man, and against his family, and will cut him off, and all that go a whoring after him, to commit whoredom with Moelch, from among their people."

20:6, "And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set My face against that soul, and will cut him off from among His people.  "

20:23, "And ye shall not walk in the manners of the nation, which I cast out before you:  for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them."

26:11, "And I will set My tabernacle among you:  and My soul shall not abhor you."

26:30, "And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and My soul shall abhor you."

NUMBERS
22:34, "And Balaam said unto the angel of the Lord, I have sinned, for I knew not that Thou stoodest in the way against me:  now therefore, if it displease thee, I will get me back again."
Balaam had disobeyed the word of the Lord.  His ass saved him three times of the angel of the Lord from being slain.  Disobedience is that which pleases not the Lord.

23:27, "And Balak said unto Balaam, Come, I pray thee, I will bring thee unto another place; peradventure it will please God that thou mayest curse me them from thence."
Men sought to curse what God hath blessed;  men sought for God to be pleased to go against His Own will and nature.   this will not be.

24:1, "And when Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness."
Balaam knew that it pleased the Lord to bless His people.  God is pleased in blessing His people.

DEUTERONOMY
1:27, "and ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the Lord hated us, He hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us."
To Please God is not found in falsely accusing God of hating the very people He saved, delivered and entered into covenant with.   They accused God of hating them to destroy them, when all along God sought love them and preserve them.    This is the opposite of pleasing God, to falsely accuse Him.

5:9, "thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them:  for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me."   Those that hate God, cannot nor ever shall please Him.  And God knows those that will come to Him or not, and He holds them accountable for generations for their evil act of not pleasing Him.

7:10, "And repayeth them that hate Him to their face, to destroy them; He will not be slack to him that hateth Him, He will repay him to his face."

9:19, "For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith the Lord was wroth against you to destroy you.  But the Lord hearkened unto me at that time also."

9:28, "Lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because the Lord was not able to bring them into the land which He promsied them, and because He hated them, He hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness."

12:31, "Thou shalt not do so unto the Lord thy God:  for every abomination to the Lord which He hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods."

16:22, "Neither shalt thou set thee up any image; which the Lord thy God hateth."

32:41, "If I whet My glittering sword, and Mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to Mine enemies, and will reward them that hate Me."

II SAMUEL
7:29, "Therefore now let it please Thee to bless the house of Thy servant, that it may continue for ever before Thee:  for Thou, O Lord God, hast spoken it:  and with Thy blessing let the house of Thy servant be blessed for ever."

11:27, "And when the mourning was past, David sent and fetched her to his house, and she became his wife, and bare him a son.  But the thing that David had done displeased the Lord."

I CHRONICLES
17:27, "Now therefore let it please Thee to bless the house of Thy servant, that it may be before Thee for ever:  for Thou blessest, O Lord, and it shall be blessed for ever."
David in his great prayer to God, after God gave him a covenant that his line would always be before Him.  The line of Christ.  Davie prayed that God would be pleased to bless as He had said.

21:7, "And God was displeased with this thing;  therefore He smote Israel."
David had sinned in numbering the people.  There was sin in this and among the people, God was not pleased with him or them.  Judgement came because of this.
29:17, "I know also, my God, that Thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness.  As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things:  and now have I seen with joy Thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto Thee."
God is pleased with uprightness in the heart of His people.

EZRA
10:11, "Now therefore make confession unto the Lord God of your fathers, and do His pleasure:  and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives."
The children of the captivity had done in the sight of the Lord in taking wives of the heathen, and daughters marrying the sons of the heathen.  They are now confronted with this evil by Ezra and told to make the wrongs right.  We see confession is called for, to acknowledge the sin, and to please God by separating from the heathen.  How great was this task!

JOB
6:9, "Even that it would please God to destroy me; that He would let loose His hand, and cut me off!"
Job is wrestling with what has happened to him.  The grief and anguish is more than he can stand.   And in that moment it speaks of pleasing God to let him die.  Many a saint in the bitteness of soul has asked to die by the permission from God.  But God is not done with them, and it does not please God to remove them from the earth.

22:3, "Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or is it gain to Him, that thou makest thy ways perfect?"
the three friends of Job are assaulting him and railing against him.   But Job maintains his integrity before the Lord and his friends.  And in defending himself, the friends assume that he is covering himself in self-righteousness.   Thus, we have our question of whether God is pleased with self-righteousness.   But we know that He is not pleased with man that heralds their own righteousness; but every Christian knows that they are robed in Christ righteousness, that is what pleases God.

PSALMS
2:5, "Then shall He speak unto them in His wrath, and vex them in His sore displeasure."

6:1, "O Lord, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in Thy hot displeasure."

11:5, "The Lord trieth the righteous:  but the wicked and him that lvoeth violence his soul hateth>"

35:27, "Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour My righteous cause:  yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of His servant."
God is pleased with the prosperity of His people.  They take that prosperity and use for His glory and kingdom advance.   We see this with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.  We see this with Job.  We see this with David.  God moves and allows and causes for prosperity to be with some of His saints.  But this is not for all; for Jesus was not filled with prosperity, nor the Apostles.  Poverty is sometimes the bearer we must have of poor and needy.

38:1, "O Lord, rebuke me not in Thy wrath; nether chasten me in Thy hot displeasure."
this is one of those verses that is not sharing of that which pleasees God, but that which pleases Him not.   And when God is not pleased, His wrath and anger is sent forth to rebuke, to correct, to judge.   David knows that there are things that he has done, his nation has done, that has provoked God to this hot displeasure and his prayers is not to come in wrath or chastening.

40:13, "Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me:  O Lord, make haste to help me."
The pleading prayer of David.  It is not so much the descriptive part of what pleases God, as much as it is that God would be pleased to deliver and help him.

51:18, "Do good in Thy good pleasure unto Zion: build Thou the walls of Jerusalem."

51:19, "Then shalt Thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering:  then shall they offer bullocks upon Thine altar."

60:1, "O God, Thou hast cast us off, Thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn Thyself to us again."

69:31, "This also shall please the Lord better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs."

103:21, "Bless ye the Lord, all ye His hosts; ye ministers of His, that do His pleasure."
The revealed will of God that His children, His minister, His church do His pleasures of holiness, faithfulness and righteousness.   Knowing this right things is needful to do them; ignorance is costly.

115:3, "But our God is in the heavens:  He hath done whatsoever He hath pleased."
List the works of God that He has been pleased to do in His creation; that which pleases God.

135:6, "Whatsoever the Lord pleased, that did He in heaven and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places."

147:10, "He delighteth not in the strength of the horse:  He taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man."
The Psalmist is describing that the physical things of the horse and man do not necessarily please God;  But it is to used in contrast to verse 11 of what God does take pleasure in .   These things do not please God.

147:11, "The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear Him, in those that hope in the His mercy."
IN contrast from verse 10, of what does not please the Lord, to what does please the Lord.  God is pleased with those that fear Him and hope in His mercy.   IT is all spiritual in nature, not the physical.

149:4, "For the Lord taketh pleasure in His people, He will beautify the meek with salvation."
God has made them, called them, ordained them to be His people, and in them He is pleased.   In you I am well-pleased.

PROVERBS
16:7, "When a man's ways please the Lord, He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him."
The soul that lives, chooses, and directs his ways to please God in holiness, righteousness and faithfulness is blessed by the Lord.  So much so, that even this man's enemies will be at peace with him.   The Lord is able to do this to the man that pleases Him.

24:18, "Lest the Lord see it, and it displease Him, and He turn away His wrath from him."
God watches and God sees the actions, reactions and intents of the heart.  That which is not right in His sight displeases Him.  May we understand and consider this truth for our responses.

ECCLESIASTES
5:4, "When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for He hath no pleasure in fools:  pay that which thou hast vowed."

7:26, "And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and pets, and her hands as bands:  whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her."

ISAIAH

42:21, "The Lord is well pleased for His righteousness sake; He will magnify the law, and make it honourable."

That which pleases God is righteousness.  Not self-righteousness, but that righteousness that proceeds from Himself.  God is pleased with that which is from His Own self, and that which He imparts to His children.

44:28, "That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all My pleasure:  even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid."
The pleasing of God is about the things of God.  God had chosen and ordained Jerusalem.  God had ordained Cyrus to be raised up to power, and he spoke, as the king, rebuild Jerusalem.   This was pleasing to God.

46:10, "Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure:"
God knows all that shall be from beginning to end.  He has declared much of this to us.  and int he end, it shall be revealed, that His counsel, that He spoke, shall accomplish all that He pleases.  God will do that which pleases Himself for His glory, honor and His Divine will.

48:14, "All ye, assemble your selves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things?  The Lord hath loved him:  He will do His pleasure on Babylon, and His arm shall be on the Chaldeans."
the pleasure of God is to do the things of God.  God's ways are just, righteous and clear.  He will judge the wicked.  His pleasure in loving His Own and delivering them and protecting them is pleasing unto Him.  He will judge those that come against and harm His Own.  In this He takes pleasure to judge Babylon for what they did.

53:10, "Yet it please the Lord to bruise Him; He hath put Him to grief:  when Thou shalt make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand."    (2)
Two times pleasing God is found in this verse of Christ death and punishment for sinners;  Out of God's great Divine love and grace, He knew the death of His Son for lost sinners would bring redemption to them.   And the obedience of His Son to face this and go through this pleased the Father.  God is pleased to bless and prosper the hand of those that obey and follow Him.

55:11, "So shall My Word be that goeth forth out of My mouth; it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing wherto I sent it."
God speaks His Word and it fulfills His good pleasure.  God speaks His will and way and when He beholds it, it pleases Him.   May we focus on this Word that pleases Him and does not return unto Him void.

56:4, "For thus saith the Lord unto the eunuchs that keep My sabbaths, and choose the things that please Me, and take hold of My covenant:"
God speak of the eunchs, but it is all His children that choose to keep His holy ways.  they keep the Lord's day, and they choose the things of His kingdom, of His will and ways that please Him.   This is the way of righteousness, faithfulness, and holiness.    they enter into a covenant with Him and He is pleased.

59:15, "Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey.  and the Lord saw it, and it displeased Him that there was no judgment."
God sees the affairs, choices and paths of men.   In this they reject truth, no judgment and those that sought good and departed from evil became a prey to the wicked.   God will respond in fierce judgement upon such as live in these things that displease Him.

66:4, "I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear:  but they did evil before Mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not."     the things that God delights in are the things that PLEASE GOD;  the things that they did before His eyes, that He saw, did not PLEASE GOD.

JEREMIAH
9:24, "But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth Me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth:  for in these things I delight, saith the Lord."

EZEKIEL
33:11, "Say unto them, As I live, saidth the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live:  turn ye,  and turn ye from your evil ways:  for why will ye die, O house of ISrael?"

HOSEA
8:8, "Israel is swallowed up now; shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel wherein is no pleasure."

9:4, "They shall not offer wine offering to the Lord, neither shall they be pleasing unto Him:  their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be polluted:  for their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the Lord."

JONAH
1:14, "Wherefore they cried unto the Lord, and said, We beseech thee, O Lord, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this man's life, and laynot upon us innocent blood:  for Thou, O Lord, hast done as it pleased Thee."

MICAH
6:7, "Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil?  shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?"

HABAKKUK
3:8, "Was the Lord displeased against the rivers?  was Thine anger against the rivers?  was Thy wrath against the sea, that Thou didst ride upon Thine horses and thy chariots of salvation?"

HAGGAI
1:8, "Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the Lord."

ZECHARIAH
1:2, "The Lord hath been sore displeased with your fathers."

1:15, "And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease:  for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction." (2)

8:17, "And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour;  and love no false oath:  for all these are things that I hate, saith the Lord."

MALACHI
1:10, "Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for nought?  neither do ye kindle fire on Mine altar for nought.  I have no pleasure in you, saith the Lord of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand."

2:16, "For the Lord, the God of Israel saith that He hateth putting away:  for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the Lord of hosts:  therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously."

3:4, "Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the Lord, as in the days of old, and as in former years."

MATTHEW
3:17, "and lo, a voice from heaven, saying, This My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased."

12:18, "Behold My servant, Whom I have chosen; My beloved, in Whom My soul is well pleased; I will put My Spirit upon Him, and He shall shew judgment to the Gentiles."

17:5, "While He yet spake, behold a bright cloud overshadowed them;  and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased; hear ye Him."

MARK
1:11, "And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art My Beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased."

10:14, "But when Jesus saw it, He was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not:  for of such is the kingdom of God."

LUKE
3:22, "And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art My beloved Son in Thee I am well pleased."

12:32, "fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom."

ROMANS
8:8, "So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God."

15:3, "For even Christ pleased not Himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on Me."

I CORINTHIANS
1:21, "For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe."

7:32, "But I would have you without carefulness.  He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:"

10:5, "But with many of them God was not well pleased:  for they were overthrown in the wilderness."

12:18, "But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased Him."

15:38, "But God giveth it a body as ithath pleased Him, and to every seed his own body."

GALATIANS
1:15, "But when it pleased God, Who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by His grace."

EPHESIANS
1:5, "Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself; according to the good pleasure of His will."

1:9, "Having made known unto us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He hath purposed in Himself:"

PHILIPPIANS
2:13, "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure"

4:18, "But I have all and abound:  I am full, having received of Ephroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God."

COLOSSIANS
1:10, "That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;"

1:19, "For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fulness dwell;"

3:6, "For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:"

3:20, "Children, obey your parents in all things:  for this is well-pleasing unto the Lord."

I THESSALONIANS
2:4, "But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts."

2:15, "Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us;  and they please not God, and are contrary to all men;"
Most of these word/phrase study is based on what pleases God.   But there are a few of these that tell us of what pleases God by not pleasing to Him.   In this verse we see those that killed Christ and His followers, people and prophets.  These are counted as enemies to the Lord, these please not God.  They work a work against God and not for God.  Those that raise their hands against the Lord's anointed shall receives punishment and the wrath of God goes out against them.
But those that please God take care of His followers, prophets and people.  They pray for them, they help them and they love them.  This is what pleases God by learning from this verse of what did/does not please God.

4:1, "Furthermore, then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more."

II THESSALONIANS
1:11, "Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our god would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:"

II TIMOTHY
2:4, "No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please Him Who hath chosen him to be a solider."

HEBREWS
10:6, "In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure."

10:8, "Above when He said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin Thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law"

10:38, "Now the just shall live by faith but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him."

11:5, "By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him:  for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God."

11:6, "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him."

13:16, "But to do good and to communicate forget not:  for with such sacrifices God is well pleased."

13:21, "Make you perfect in every good work to do His will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ; to Whom be glory for ever and ever.  Amen."

WHAT ARE WE PRAYING FOR

What are we praying for in our prayers?

"Lord, teach us to pray"  Luke

The disciples had seen and heard Jesus pray and interact in deep ways with His Heavenly Father.  It is unclear, but seems natural to conclude that they knew that His intimacy in prayer with the Father was His leading, source of sustained power and Divine purpose of what and hwy He was doing what He was doing.  From the throne of God came this heavenly Spirit that filled Him and was overrunning to accomplish and do great things in teaching, miracles and salvations.   It was through prayer that this was done.

In these days every one is praying.  Just ask them, and they will be quick to confirm 'I pray all the time.'  The Muslims pray 5 times a day;  Buddhists and Hindu's pray much;  Catholics say their vain repetition and count their rosaries just as often.  Many a church goer recited the Lord's prayer and all of these religionists expound that they are praying.  And granted, by the definition of prayer, to speak unto one's God/god, they are literally correct.

But in view of the Christian prayer life, taken from Christ, their is a level of praying that far exceeds religion.  Religions recited words and phrases and go through rituals that justify in their minds they are doing the right thing and accomplishing something.  But Christians know that prayer is not just an act of religion, it is a direct conversation between God , Who hears our requests and receives our honor unto Him; as well, as we give ear to Him, Who speaks from the throne.  This dialogue is based upon both sides of it, hearing and speaking.    God gave the directive to prayer, 'Call unto Me, and I will answer thee; and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not."  Jeremiah 33:3  As well God gave directive, 'give ear to Me and hear what I will say unto you.'

Jesus went before His Father and brought forth petitions to pray in agreement with His Father, as well to hear what He said.  'I speak that which I have heard My Father speak'   And this level of intimacy in prayer developed this relationship of a Divine moment by prayer, and through prayer for the will of the Father to be done.  Jesus gave us this example as He was here on earth to pray as He did.  This level of praying is far richer and deeper than simply vain repetition and religious duty of rhetoric, which accomplishes nothing.   The level of praying must be understood and examined in light of what we are up against in these days.

What are we up against in these days:
. . . "The enemy has come in like a flood. . ."  Isaiah 59:9   Due to our great sin against the Lord, He has withdrawn and departed from us.   We are in the worst of situations because of this.  Are we still blest?  are we still prosperous?  are we still atop the nations?  Yes, we have all these things, in which God has allowed and blest us with.  But it is these same things that has caused us to commit the two great sins that Israel and Judah committed against the Lord that led to their destruction and captivity:  the forgot the Lord and they forsook the Lord.

From these two great evils, has come our enemy, the Devil, to destroy, maim, steal and kill.   due to God's absence from us, Satan has taken full advantage to work his work of evil on our nation, homes, and hearts.  And all the things that we are up against is found in this.   Everything whihc God blessed and used for His glory has all but been shattered, ruined and destroyed.

--Too often the focus of our prayers is the circumstances of the moment; rather than the point of what caused it.   One goes to the doctor and diagnosis is that the patient has cancer.  He prescribes 2 aspirin to be taken twice a day to help with pain and fever.   The aspirin may help with the pain and fever, but the cancer is not touched.  The only way to deal properly with the sickness is to remove and attack the cancer causing the fever and pain.  Only then will it be dealt with rightly.   And often our prayers are for the symptoms caused by evil, by sin.  We deal with the issues that come from sinning against God.   Rarely does Christians, or church groups tackle the cancer of evil directly and root out the sin that causes evil and its symptoms on our nation, families, and in the minds and hearts of men.

The priority of prayer is God.  The outflow of God is the things of God.  And out of these things is the will of God.

PRAYER BLOG - JUNE 14

Greetings,

I Kings 9:8, "And at this house, which is high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath the Lord done thus unto this land, and to this house?"

The Lord is doing a new work within me.   I grieve over my obstinate will toward Him and what He is saying and doing.  One part of this is something that I have studied, preached, and began numerous times to write, 'What have I done?'  It is the question and/or statement found dozens of times int he Bible, where God or men asked 'what have you done?'   This is such a spiritual question for us to look at today for our nation, church, family and our own hearts.  God is driving me to write and get this done.   The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak, pray for me.  This verse is one of those phrases/questions to address.

Seeing where our nation and the church is presently; and knowing to some degree what is coming, we need to understand this question and employ it into our prayers.  Time is critical here.   All the remedial judgements that I have pointed out and shared are culminating now.   And I believe, soon, the next one, beyond the regular ones will happen.  Now whether that is war, pestilence, unlike we have seen before, or some other judgement to greatly humble and afflict us for our sin it is on the horizon.   And soon, this question will be our worlds future question, 'Why has the Lord done this to this nation and to His church?'

this question is to some degree being asked now.  Many are looking at these remedial judgements and trying to find answers.   look for a moment at all the epidemics of suicides, drugs, divorce, pornography, debt, and the flip side of this as results of SBC baptisms drastically decreasing, greater evils, less holiness, prayer status quo, bibles largely unread and unknown, church attendance record lows each Sunday.   such crisies on the streets, in the homes, and in the minds and hearts of men.   Why has the Lord done this to this land and to His church?

The culmination of remedial judgements on our nation in the first 5 and 1/2 months is greatly alarming.   Every fabric of society has been hit.   These happenings and pre-cursor signs are warnings of our high offence against the Lord.   And I do not see nor hear of any great shift away from our abominations, but only slightly by the church.   I see the darkness still pervading upon the land and homes.   I see the LGBT agenda continuing and deepening; affecting many of the next generation with such great evil.   I see the drug conditions continue.   I see abortion still in place and homosexual marriages blessed.

And the one thing that can make the difference, cause the shift that is needed is for the church to realize the great danger of our future that we are in and respond rightly.   A realization of just were we are is needed.  The emergency status of our day is not understood, therefore the fervency and urgency of prayer to prevail is not employed.   The realization of our great sin against the Lord is needed and in each sin to be identified and confessed, mourned, and repented of.   The change of the church's discipleship and move away from methods and means and move toward Bible reading/studying; greater prayer times privately and corporately and holiness in daily walk.   Too much carnal, selfish, proud lifestyles of entertainment, ease and comfort are existing while our doom is pending.   Soon we will hear, for those that survive, 'Why did God do this to this land and to His church?'   And the answer: 'Because they would not humble thesmelves, they would not forsake the world;  they would not die to self and live in the Spirit.  And God judged them after decades of remedial judgements.'    Woe to those that have to see such an end.

Brethren, while we have time; and time is rapidly decreasing, we need to resond.   Call 2 Fall next month is a great means to employ for this.   And even though it only seeks 5 - 10 minutes to be on our knees and pray, any church and group can go deeper and make it more.   At Fox's Hollow we will be have a solemn assembly to spend 2 hours in prayer and supplication to deal with these things.
Fasting 2 x a month for sermonindex conference;  this can be employed to pray for the nation, and church, and family to come to the Lord rightly and with surrendered wills' unto Him.
24/7 prayer chain join and use your time daily to be before the Lord over this.   We have the 1's and the 2's each day; but we need dozens to be employed.

The reason you don't respond is that your too busy.   You do not understand the urgency of the hour upon our fate and future.   There is no time left, but a major response is needed now.  For the next calamity is close.  And what that will look like will be historic again; it will be awful and I fear for many of these that are slain during these things are not ready for eternity and they are ushered out without Christ into hell fire for ever.

I cannot convey to you how this question will soon be our epitaph.    while we have today, renew and yield to make a difference and be much before the Lord.

Prayer Targets:
It is the middle of June and we have had several prayer targets come to a conclusion in these last weeks.   And I want to thank you, to those that read these and set them before you to pray before the Lord.   First, the Supreme Court case of Jack, the cake business vs. Colorado over personal, business rights to stay true to religious freedom.  Years, I had been bringing this before you and we saw God answer us out of His great mercy.   Secondly, this past week, the SBC convention concluded.   JD Greear is new president; other issues SWBTS trustees and VP Pence speaking distracted largely the SBC.   I feared that they simply wanted to get through this as much unscathed as they could; I guess they accomplished that.  Greater moments and time of prayers have become more apart of the SBC.

--Cancer;   never have I seen the numerous requests for the increase in prayer for cancer, treatments, diagnosis, surgery and recovery;     In a usual setting of a moth, there might be 10 - 20 requests in and around people of the community, church, and family;   Literally that number has doubled;  When we read Deuteronomy 28, and the curses are poured out on the land for their disobedience, health is greatly attacked and removed from the population.  Cancer is one of our remedial judgements.  Now this does not mean that every one that gets cancer is a great sinner.  No; but all of us are paying the price.  This affliction is on the righteous and unrighteous.   And it is everywhere, every family fighting this, every church fighting this.    But understand for your prayers, the cause of cancer is the root of our spiritual praying - the sin of the land, the forsaking of the church against the Lord is the cause of the increase of this.

--mass shooting/murder-suicides;   It is with certainty that i cringe of the news this morning.   Reported this morning is of 2 separate posts on social media of a mass shooting being threatened.   The posts of course, allows for law enforcement to respond and prevent it.   But after all we have seen of the increase of this, 2 speaking publicly are found out and stopped.   But it is the one that does not share and is even now creating and being used to do this evil.   More historic numbers are sure to follow.   Schools are largely out for the summer; but public venues, and churches can still be targeted.  Again for prayer, ot understand why this is happening.   Good removes safeguards of decency, moral, good, from society that such evil acts are allowed, permitted.  God allows Satan to do his work because our nation has asked God to leave us; and He has.

--suicide;   With the 2 celebrity names committing suicide, it is been made aware of the 30% increase annually of our nations death rate by suicide.   Drugs overdose deaths for the last 5 years have increased from 20,000 to 70,000.   suicides are now over 50,000 annually.   Couple all these death totals together, and add in abortion, this is why are nations reproductive population is on the point of our nation becoming extinct.   'And I will remove you from the earth'.   Too many seek an answer for by depression, mental health, etc.   This is a spiritual demon allowed, caused and permitted by God as another remedial judgement due to our sin in provoking the Lord.   God removes sanity, normal, behavior and thought process.

--Sermonindex Conference;   The next major prayer target, as far as events is the conference in October.   Prayer Partners continue to pray over:
--Dates - October 4 - 6;   travel in and out, prayer time Oct. 3 that night; each session;
--Speakers - covering all 12;
--Simulcast receivers; tech, gatherings, prayers,  edifying, and holiness upon those that will be viewing but not present at the conference;
--Church - Pastor Shane Idleman and his staff and people as they prepare to hosts Westside Christian Fellowship in Leona Valley, CA;

 --natural calamities;   Hawaii's and Guatemala volcanoes are a picture of tragedy that can be quick, and severe;  Southwest of US in severe drought;  east coast flooding (historic)   hurricane season now;  and it looked like next week 2 may hit at both ends of the nation, SW and south east;   I don't know that that has every happened.  at the beach - drowning from riptides, FL jelly fish of 100's;   continued water tainted while swimming and contracting flesh eating bacteria;  wildfires - Calif.  Colorado and New Mexico;    earthquakes have been limited and quiet, especially in severity;
