Greetings,
"And the anger of the Lord was kindled against them; and He departed." Numbers 12:9
Miriam and Aaron had rose up against their brother; no, not against just a brother, but against the prophet of the Lord. they were finding fault with a woman that he had married. And God was not having this, but called all 3 out to the tabernacle to deal with this. And God thunders away at her, for speaking against His man. Aaron, as we have seen before, not much of a backbone. Apparently went right along with Miriam and never corrected nor stopped it. Perhaps because he was the high priest, that God did not touch him or judge him as harshly, but God touched Miriam and she became a leper to be cast out for a week.
But this verse, in its two parts is set before me in relationship to what we deal with in our 4 areas of interest: nation; church; family and our own heart. What does one do when God's anger is kindled and He departs?
Nation - when God's anger is kindled against a nation, a people, His judgement and destruction is soon to follow. As Moses did when God was angry with the people, with the nation, he stood as an intercessor to plead for God to repent of His wrath, and He did. If there is no one to plead with God, His course of judgment and wrath will be followed through with.
church - when God's anger is kindled and He departs, we have arrived at Ichabod. The glory is departed, the Spirit is quenched and grieved. No power, no Presence. Satan advances in so many ways until the relationship is restored.
family - when God's anger is kindled and He departs, they are left to that which remains. IF God be not present, then Satan and sin must be present. For normally sin is what God is angry with and why He departs. Rebellion, disobedience and hearts that should do better but do not do better remains.
Our own hearts - the soul that sinneth it shall die; the soul that repents shall find God turn from His fierce anger and departing and return and 'who knows if He will leave a blessing behind Him'. The examination of the soul, the heart, the choices of one's life determines whether God is pleased, or God's anger is kindled; whether God is near or God departs. And only the fool lives a life, knowing that 'you have departed from the Lord by your choices, now God will depart from you and leave you to your choices'. No good can come from such a plight as this. But the soul that turns back unto the Lord, or turns to the Lord, He will turn unto them.
How needful for the church to understand these truths.
So where are we at? as a nation, as the church, in our own walk? remedial judgements on our nation, families, churches and individual are at historic proportions. Wrath, death and destruction are upon the land for our sins. and the one people, the one's with the message to remedy this, the church are found to be as wayward, self driven, humanistic, and walking contrary unto the Lord as the heathen. There is no gathering of the people of God to lament and mourn. All I see is self pleasing, entertainment, sports, money spending and no restoration of broken relationship with God. The appeal to leadership to respond has fallen on deaf ears, and God's wrath waxes hot.
PRAYER TARGETS
5 epidemics
I am not seeking to find these for the sake of making a point. epidemic is simply the best word that God has led me to, to describe our plight on our nation. this is especially true in regards to the remedial judgements that I have share on. And yet, the nonchalant attitude of church leadership to our destruction is frightening. Epidemic is termed for its wide spreading affect upon the population, and can be measured by its endurance upon the people, as we see it defined for disease. Thus, epidemics that I have share over the last month was 3, last week I added #4. During Saturday night prayer at Fox's Hollow, and I shared with them the 4 epidemics, which they are aware of, in the midst of that praying, the cry over #5 rang out against and again. Then on Sunday, as we held our Solemn Assembly the cry continued and repeated over this what I was hearing and seeing as the 5th epidemic. The children.
Epidemics:
1. Drugs; numbers are not out but I suspect from my own gathering 2017 will hit close to or around 70,000 deaths. This does not count the other health affects, od's, abuse, and health issues from it. And this is only 1 year; We are in our 4th decade of drug abuse. We have gone from fighting it to now legalizing it. Literally, 100,000's of deaths over the last decade has impacted every area of our families, churches, cities. It is a sickening scourge on our nation, due to our sin.
This is what happens when God's anger is kindled against a people and He departs. We are left to our own destuction.
2. Cancer; again wide and deep as been this pain upon so many loved ones, every family, every church, every city feels the sorrow, pain of this. Almost every prayer request in churches has multiple cancer patients. In the month of June, I had for the first 19 days of that month, new prayer requests coming in of those with cancer, or dealing with cancer for tests, procedures, surgery and recovery. We pray, we treat it; and the impact continues upon our nation.
3. Great Evil of Murder; I lumped summed this epidemic because of its impact in so many venues; Quite the increase of murders on our streets, especially in the major cities. Then we have the horrifying headlines of murder-suicides, usually domestic. this is coupled with suicides that are on the increase in many norms. Then we have the continued increase of mass shootings in its venue of school, church, police officers, public places. Out of the minds and hearts of evil comes forth this evil that was rare, once a month, then weekly, then several a week, and now you would be hard pressed out of 365 days in a year, to find one day that this is not happening. Never have we seen it like this. but where is the cry? where is the prayer focus and drawing attention to it, before the church to name it and cause them to see? Usually, unspoken till it hits in our own back yard. Why must we wait till then? I believe in preventive prayers to combat it before it happens.
4. LGBT AGENDA; We have gone from laws against sodomy. A people, a nation, a society that abhorred even the mention or thought of such perversion to now a legalized nation that supports it. And even though, I do not believe that out of 330 million population in the US, that there is even 10% a part of this, because of God's anger being kindled against us, and He departing from us, He gives us over to a reprobate mind. Back in the 1990's,if not 80's, Hollywood made this more and more acceptable on TV and movies. They made comedies with it, and we laughed at it, but now, it is a norm. a norm that if you speak against or denounce, they are vicious in their attacks. They are seeking in this pursuit from hell to cause every state, coutny and city to legalize it and make it acceptable, with no limitations of the sexual perversion of our nation, and generations. and God is allowing it.
5. Children; Last night two headlines stopped me, because of the mention I shared about Saturday and Sunday prayer times on abuse of children. This epidemic is abuse, in all its forms of sexual, physical, and emotional. the two accounts that reiterate our deepening plight was a mother in Kansas that allowed for men to rape her 2 yr. old daughter repeatedly. The child now has an STD. The other case was in Alabama were a family had raped, molested and perverted dozens over a 30 year period. These are not isoalted cases, but an increase of continued evil on a weekly, and now becoming a daily issue. The cases of sex trade world wide; disappearances of children, children orphaned and neglected to the drug issues are all upon us and has only deepened for each generation coming forward.
How do you fix such a broken place, a broken people, broken homes, broken hearts? Return to the Lord Who is able to do a work in us and through us. Time has been lost in our worldly, carnal pursuits. Time that has accelerated these epidemics. God will make us, as the church answer for this in a two fold way:
What did you do to minister to them in their hour of need? And there are many ministries rising up and helping. And they are sharing great testimonies of salvation and deliverance and blessings. but they are the 1's and the 2's among millions. Celebrate and rejoice, yes; but don't forget the larger picture that God sees, the whole.
Why did you not stop it? You saw it, you heard it; yet your apathy did not move you toward it. The power of God is able to undo it and stop it. Yet the failure ot respond rightly before the Lord has given us no ground that God says, 'I have heard your cry, I have seen your tears and I will grant you the desire of your heart.' Tears? cries? lamentations? A hard thing to find in the churches these days. And thus, why we did not stop it.
Now there are definitely numerous other prayer targets that should be shared, mentioned and brought before us for prayer. but at this time, I feel that these 5 should command our attention to focus on agreed prayer. As fast as these have risen upon our nation in the last couple of years; yet decades sown, #6 and 7 may not be too far behind us. A time to respond now, is needed. We are approaching a line drawn in the sand, of which there is no return. And it is not simply 'saying' prayers about it, there must be a fervent, urgent, broken and contrite emphasis. A calling together, a focus upon such things; a continued laboring together and before the Lord for His mercy and grace to supercede His wrath and judgement.
Beloved, let us pray. . . .
