PRAYER LINK RESPONSE - JULY 31

Greetings,
A group of prayer leaders came together to continue to discuss development of SBC prayer life.   Out of this comes multiple issues, questions and suggested directives.   The following is my response, thoughts and answers to some of the questions:

1.   ASSESSMENT:
How do you know where to lead or take people if you don't know where they are.   The assessment is to define a structure of where we are, and from that develop where we want to go.

Assessment of Prayer Among the SBC:
The Targets to be Assessed are the 5 Major Areas of SBC Life:
1. Pastor; personal & his close prayer partners (I believe too many do not have one)
2.  Church and Laity;  this is the corporate sense as well as small group;
3.  Associations;
4.  State Conventions;
5.  SBC Entities - 6 seminaries; NAMB; IMB; ERLC; Executive Committee; BGR;

The area of help for these 5 areas of SBC to be developed and set up to build, promote and continue a spirit of prayer among the body.   These areas are:
--personal;
--local;
--regional;
--corporate/national;

Suggested ways to assess:
1.  Form that gathers info on state of prayer life;
Composed of:
--time (duration) & topics of prayer life; place; frequency;
2.  Gather from broad section of each respective 5 Areas Targeted:
Impossible to gather all, but a broad synopsis of overview of general practice of prayer is the purpose of this.
3.   Conclusion:  'This is where we are at.  This is where we want to go".
Granted there are some preconceived notions of where we are due to our decades of service among SBC life.  Preconceived notions are not biased or prejudice, but a general rule of thumb.

2.   What is the Need for Such an Assessment at This Time
The status of the SBC convention of some alarming trends and situations:
1.  baptisms have continued to decrease;
2.   holiness within the church is decreased;
3.   larger number of pastors and leaders found in sinful choices and leaving ministry;
4.  ease and contentment with this world rather than preparing for heaven and His kingdom;  temporal and carnal, rather than eternal and spiritual;
5.  prayer life within the individual and church is a rare thing;  the prayer life of the SBC does not bother hell one bit.

We are in a state of emergency.   yet, there is not much urgency for our dire situation.   And this is evident by the lack of fervency in our prayer lives.
In our lifetime, 20 - 40 years of this generation we have gone from God's warning; to judgements; to remedial judgements to epidemics.
Our very future is called into jeopardy now.  And the one people who have the answer, the church, is not responding to this most dire situation upon us.

The state of empathy, is that the hand of God has shown itself, and has written on the wall.   There may be many that cannot interpret or understand it, but the message is still the same.   God always has His Daniel to reveal the mysteries of God to men.  The weightier message to be revealed is 'you are weighed in the balances and found wanting'.

The understanding of this, that I believe in large portions of SBC life is unknown and unsaid, needs to be conveyed.   And as it is conveyed, it is my firm belief that the Holy Spirit of God will awaken, will quicken His body to finally do what we should have been doing all along - humble ourselves; pray; seek Him and turn from our wicked ways.

PRAYER BLOG - JULY 27 - #6 EPIDEMIC - NAUTRAL DISASTERS

Greetings,

"If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD; Then the Lord will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long conintuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.  Moreover He will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou was afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee.  Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of thi slaw, them will the Lord bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed."   Deuteronomy 28:58 - 61

This is the cursing section of Deuteronomy 28.  the first 14 verses are filled with blessings from the Lord for their obedience;  the remaining 53 verses are curses for their disobedience.  It is the last words of Moses to a people that have murmured, disobeyed and continued to fight against the Lord.  It is his last appeal to warn them of what will be if they continue in their sin.

It is not different for us today.  Yes, we are not under the law, but grace;  but the nature of God toward a person, a people that obey or disobey is the same.  If we obey and do right, He blesses; but if we disobey and do not do right, He curses.   The purpose that I have sought to show our plight is to see the judgements of God.  A number of years ago, I studied and preached a series on the ":Seven Levels of God's Judgements'.  the 7 areas of our life that are impacted by God's anger and wrath against a disobedient people.  Many of these same acts of God are upon us now.  I do read or hear of any others preaching or sharing this.   But it is before me, and I reveal what I see from the Lord.

These curses upon our nation, families, society and the church are because of our continued sin against the Lord.   These curses I more refer to as remedial judgements.  For remedial judgements are sent and allowed by God to bring us to an awareness of wherein our folly is and confess and repent of it.  The failure to remove the sin, heightens the wrath of God because our evil and sin goes deeper.  This is what we have seen in the last 18 years.  Although I reference the last 18 years, this century thus far;  these things are for decades and centuries.

All of creation is God's.  He created it, He sustains it.  We see His powerful, magnificent hand in colors, scenes, and beauty of it.   But also, we see His power and wrath when it is unleashed against men, animals and the land itself.  This quite evident throughout all the Bible.  We see in Genesis, when God was angry with the people for their wickedness, He sent the flood;  in Egypt, of the 10 plagues, over 1/2 of them was nature set against Egypt and the people; in Revelation we see 1/3 of all His creation destroyed by elements of His doing; and in so many other parts of Scripture we see beasts, drought, locusts as means of His wrath against the nations.

In identifying the remedial judgements against us as a nation, and against the church for their folly to not address nor come before the Lord, we see these judgements heighten and increase to epidemics.

#1 - Drugs;
#2 - Cancer;
#3 - Great Acts of Evil - murder, suicides, mass shootings;
#4 - LGBT agenda;
#5 - Children and the abuse and neglect of high percentage of them;
#6 - Natural Disasters;

Epidemics - large, increased effect upon land and people; usually in reference to disease, but here in impact of nature against large portions of our land;

Throughout these last months, I have continued to seek the Lord and men to help in understanding this and dealing with it.   I sought to identify a few of the epidemics as was largely upon our nation as the drugs and shooting death.   Large numbers are tallied weekly and monthly for these judgements upon us.   And then it was clear that there was other epidemics as well happening that was increasing and has increased over the years.   Understand this, it has not happened over night.  But these epidemics have been allowed, caused and permitted by God in due to the sin of the nation and the failure of His church.   For years we have been dealing with this.

I felt 3 or 4 was sufficient, but the Lord continues to reveal how His arm has gone out against us.   And through the events of this week, God made it clear that Natural Disasters have reached epidemic proportions all over our world.   Now it is funny to me, that where I began with these judgements in seeing God's wrath was here.  I watched the earthquakes, floods, tornadoes, etc.  to see the power of God in the storm, awe struck as well as fearful.   And now I am back due to the increase of our national calamity of disasters happening weekly.

Again, time plays into identifying these epidemics.  They are not one and done; they build a consistent pattern of continual happenings.   And the intensity that happens should be the key that they are increasing.  when words are used to describe them as 'record'; 'historic' and 'apocalyptic' ; we know they are not flukes, or just global warming, but an act of God, in direct response to the sins of the nation.

WARNING:   this is the 6th epidemic upon our nation.   Woe unto us, if we reach #7.

In Leviticus 26, God warned that if the children of Israel did not correct their ways and repent, the next round of remedial judgment would be 7X greater.   Seven is a number of completion by God for whatever His purpose and will.   With the heighten increase of these epidemics upon families, regions, people and individuals, the increase to a seventh epidemic would surely raise alarm to our plight.  by reaching this, where do we go from there?   Surely the next round would catastrophic calamity seeing we did not respond during these days that He gave us warning.   it would be historic proportions of death and destruction upon the nation and people.

I have besought church leaders and prayer leaders to respond.  Even a dialogue about this, but to no avail.  I wonder what it will take to cause a right response before the Lord due to our great sin against the Lord.  I wonder why the church doesn't pray more earnestly seeing there is such a plight upon the land and dire warnings for our immediate future.   I see entertainment, sports, and ease continue by the church as if this is all normal.   I see holiness and eternity the furthest thing from the church's mind.  Yet I know in the midst of it all God is working for His glory and purpose.   He will be glorified in all the earth.

So the Lord has given us a season to work, to respond, to seek Him.  But alas, as the determined behavior of the church in these days has been consistent, we will not seek Him.   We will seek our ease and pleasure, but we will not seek Him.   Now the remnant is praying and seeking; and it will be now to see whether they prevail or not.

PRAYER BLOG - AN APPEAL FOR SPIRUTAL REPONSE - JULY 23

Greetings,
"Hear, O earth:  behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto My Words, nor to My law, but rejected it."  Jeremiah 6:19

Found to be the destroying sins of Israel and Judah are the 3 main sins of forsaking the Lord, forgetting the Lord and not listening to the Lord.  And because of those sins, God brought death, destruction and desolation upon them.   Our nation is within the midst of the last 18 years of death, destruction and desolation.  We are in a great calamity and crisis.  Yet! the church and the nation goes on as if this is the norm.  We are as guilty as they of forgetting the Lord, forsaking the ways of the Lord and not hearing His call to repent.

I have shared over the last several weeks that the Lord has revealed to me how deep the crisis is.   That we are no longer just considering prayer targets to be prayed for; but we are now at the level of epidemics upon our society and people.  And because the church has missed its moments to respond to God's remedial judgements, we are now on the fringe of the next level of judgement that would be #6 and /or #7.

The 5 current epidemics are these:
1.  Drugs;
2.  Cancer;
3.  Great Evil; consisting of all the death and destruction of school shootings, mass shooting, polices officers being shot & killed; and police officers shooting innocent ones;  murder-suicides & suicides;
4.  LGBT;
5.  Children; abuse & neglect;

Number 6 could easily be the weather, natural disasters that have battered our nation for years in great amounts of destruction and lives lost.

the church has had after each critical judgement a moment to respond before the Lord, to seek Him for forgiveness and mercy.   We have not done that.  Yea, after 9/11 and after Hurricane Katrina, there was talk among spiritual leaders and political leaders to call for a solemn assembly.   but those good intentions never got any further than talk, and was never put into action and response.   Because the Evil One got the best at stopping that proper response, the sin still remains and the evil continues and the wrath of God increases against us.

Now after each tragedy, each historic, record setting death and destruction and calamity, there is the 'call to pray'.   We have not learned the lessons yet that God is teaching us.   It is needful to pray for those that are going through trials, death, valley of the shadow of death.   But how much more if the church quit waiting for the tragedy to happen and pray after it, and learned to pray before the tragedy to stop it.   These are called preventive prayers.   Which is not taught nor employed hardly at all among the church.   Therefore the destruction continues.

And I believe we are so busy with life, with our living, with our agendas that we see little beyond the here and now.   This is a great crisis among the church that should see eternally.   And because our time frame is such, we can only deal with what has happened, after the fact; never to prevent the tragedy.   But if we was to step back and see the last 20 years, the last 40 years of our history and consider where we are and where we have come from, I believe there would be a greater alarm about our present day and the hope of our future.

For surely you must understand our future is now in jeopardy of continuing.   Our children and grandchildren are going to inherit a society that is self-destructing.   these epidemics are a part of that, and the hope of a continued future is now eroding away.   God is removing us from the earth.

And as many in the church may understand this, the response is not there.   Much talk, much thought, and haphazard prayers toward this end are offered.   But the right response, the needed response is to call for a Solemn Approaching unto the Lord.   Knowing these truths and our reality that we come before God as He has commanded and has waited for, broken and contrite.   Come with confession, full recognition of wherein our sin lies.   A heart, mind and soul that is ready to fast, to weep, to give up sleep and to wail before Him for the sake of our future.   All of this is in jeopardy; because our sins have increased to the heights of heaven and His wrath and anger have been provoked to a rage that we have never known before.

Therefore I am doing what the Lord has laid upon me to do.   I believe that the Lord is getting ready to unleash the next level of remedial judgement on us.   I know not what that is, but through Scripture we see that it could be war, economy collapse, pestilence of great death and affliction, or something else not revealed.    I am not content to simply allow for it to happen and then post another Prayer Target to be mentioned.   When we have power right now to come together, to wail before Him over our iniquities and sins and seek Him, Who is grace, Who is mercy, Who is longsuffering and ask of Him to be those things.

This is the reason that I have implored you to join the 24/7 prayer chain and help us in this most needed pursuit.   To not do anything, is to hasten and to ask for God to go ahead and judge us.   and any one that knows the wrath and judgement of God would not be so foolish as to ask for it.   Eternal souls are at stake, the opportunity for us to be a part of His kingdoms work is at stake, and our future of existing is at stake.

You are being asked to
--consider these things;
--to pray over it and respond;
--to assemble and make time, place and opportunity for these things to be dealt with properly while there is still time;

Many will ask of me, "What exactly are you asking for in light of these things?"
1.  A national call to the church to assemble before the Lord;  we have the technology and availability to do this now via live streaming.   Call a day(s), I would suggest 3 days.
2.  Fast, pray so as to prevail, this is not just saying prayers, but desperation, urgent, fervent prayers in this hour of emergency.
3.  A recognition of the sins committed, allowed, legalized and practiced by our nation, church, families and our own hearts.
4.  Confession and repentance before the Lord.
5.  A plea before the Lord 'in wrath to remember mercy'; pleading for revival, His Manifest Presence to come and anoint, consecrate and sanctify us for His glory and work.
6.   A sustained accountability among the brethren to continue in unity, His spirit and His work;

I ask of you to forward this on throughout the church body as we seek the Lord's allowance for us to respond.
Brethren, the hour is late and the need is great;  pray so as to prevail.

CALL TO SOLEMN ASSEMBLE

Greetings,

I am not talking about a Solemn Assembly.  As many would want to define from Old Testament passages and practices.   The issue before us as spiritual leaders, prayer warriors and followers of Christ is about:
--where we are;
--where we are going;
--how we got here;
--what must we do

Our Plight

There are many prayer points, issues and targets to be brought before the church.   But the Lord has revealed 5 epidemics upon our nation right now.

Epidemic - : affecting or tending to affect a disproportionately large number of individuals within a population, community, or region at the same time;    characterized by very widespread growth or extent.

Here are the 5 epidemics facing our society and the church and our future:
1. Drugs;
2.  Cancer;
3. Evil; mass murders, school shooting, murder-suicides, suicides, historic homicides, police officers being shot and killed and police officers shooting innocent;  Acts of evil that cause death and destruction;
4.  LGBT;
5.  Children abuse and neglect;   physical, emotional, sexual abuse;   Society is violating and stealing children's innocence and naiveness, that before they are 3 or 4 years old, they have seen evil in all its vile ways;

Now these things are not one and done.   They are not isolated incidents, or sporadic in happenings; but they are in every state, county and city.   They are north to south and east to west in our nation.   They are not haphazardly happening once a year, or several times a year.  but they have grown from once a in while, to every month, to every week, to now every day or every other day.   Their increase in volume is the alarm upon us.

Where are we going

As the frequency of these evils upon us continue, they are accelerating to new heights of death and destruction.   We are now in a state of our very future being in jeopardy.  For no society can continue at this pace of death and destruction.   We have already dropped in birth rate numbers below the needed number to continue a healthy population.  Death is happening faster than birth.  Now this is happening because of a number of things not mentioned yet, but still evil.  Such things as abortion, birth control and a society not wanting children, no procreation.

The remedial judgements happening in these epidemics, as well as the other prayer issues should make us very aware of our plight before the Lord.  He is allowing for our own destruction by our evil deeds against Him.  We have provoked Him to anger, and He has responded in wrath.   " I will cut you off"; "I will remove you from the earth".   Do you not see this?  Are you aware of this critical plight?   The future of our children and grandchildren is in jeopardy and our response is dependent on God's destruction or deliverance.

there is one more thing you should consider in this, I have identified 5 epidemics on our nation.  At this rate, there is no reason to not see by the end of this year #6 and/or #7 added to our plagues.   We have not seen a disease plague of epidemic proportions yet.  We have not seen war yet.   Economy, anarchy and chaos in our government and streets is possible.  There are numerous things that could come upon us in regards to 6 and/or 7.   Weather disasters have been constant as well and could easily be #6, for they only continue to increase in severity of destruction and death.   And earthquake in populate areas has not been since the 1990's in San Fransisco.    Give attention, God is not done, because we have not dealt with the sin causing this.

How We Got Here

I have addressed this many times over in addressing specifically our sins.   The need to understand wherein we have provoke the Lord to anger as a nation, as a church and as individuals.   Once these things are identified, it is the need of the hour to confess, repent and restore our broken ties to the Lord.  This starts with the church.  If the church doesn't respond, doesn't sound the alarms then why would we expect the lost world too?   'Let judgement begin in the house of the Lord'.   When the plight is fully explained, and our crisis is laid out, it would be my prayer that there would be great alarm to where we are, how we got here and where we are going.

but the one thing left is a right response by the church to correct what caused all this and what has escalated these things to new heights of evil that has brought such death and destruction.

What Must We Do

In II Chronicles 7 and in Joel 1 & 2, when remedial judgements are falling and happening, there is to be a response by the people of God.   sin has caused this, and we are reaping what we have sown.   Now God in His mercy, in the midst of remedial judgements gives a moment to respond to His invitation to put away the sin that has caused the offense before the Lord and to the Lord.   We are to call for the people to come together.  We are to make them aware of our iniquity before the Lord.  We are to confess and repent of the sins of offense unto the Lord God.  We are to be broken and contrite before Him.   Call for a fast, and travail before Him.   'For who knows if He will turn and leave a blessing behind Him'.   We are to renew our vows of loyalty and allegiance unto Him.

Let the spiritual leaders of the church and prayer leaders understand these things.  Let them respond in one voice and unified response to our nation and the churches response.   Let them set the example and put before the people the example of making our wrongs right unto the Lord God, while we have time.

PRAYER BLOG - JULY 19

Greetings,

"And the anger of the Lord was kindled against them; and He departed."  Numbers 12:9

Miriam and Aaron had rose up against their brother; no, not against just a brother, but against the prophet of the Lord.  they were finding fault with a woman that he had married.   And God was not having this, but called all 3 out to the tabernacle to deal with this.  And God thunders away at her, for speaking against His man.  Aaron, as we have seen before, not much of a backbone.  Apparently went right along with Miriam and never corrected nor stopped it.    Perhaps because he was the high priest, that God did not touch him or judge him as harshly, but God touched Miriam and she became a leper to be cast out for a week.

But this verse, in its two parts is set before me in relationship to what we deal with in our 4 areas of interest:  nation; church; family and our own heart.   What does one do when God's anger is kindled and He departs?

Nation - when God's anger is kindled against a nation, a people, His judgement and destruction is soon to follow.  As Moses did when God was angry with the people, with the nation, he stood as an intercessor to plead for God to repent of His wrath, and He did.  If there is no one to plead with God, His course of judgment and wrath will be followed through with.

church - when God's anger is kindled and He departs, we have arrived at Ichabod.   The glory is departed, the Spirit is quenched and grieved.  No power, no Presence.   Satan advances in so many ways until the relationship is restored.

family - when God's anger is kindled and He departs, they are left to that which remains.  IF God be not present, then Satan and sin must be present.  For normally sin is what God is angry with and why He departs.   Rebellion, disobedience and hearts that should do better but do not do better remains.

Our own hearts - the soul that sinneth it shall die;  the soul that repents shall find God turn from His fierce anger and departing and return and 'who knows if He will leave a blessing behind Him'.   The examination of the soul, the heart, the choices of one's life determines whether God is pleased, or God's anger is kindled;  whether God is near or God departs.   And only the fool lives a life, knowing that 'you have departed from the Lord by your choices, now God will depart from you and leave you to your choices'.   No good can come from such a plight as this.  But the soul that turns back unto the Lord, or turns to the Lord,  He will turn unto them.

How needful for the church to understand these truths.

So where are we at?  as a nation, as the church, in our own walk?   remedial judgements on our nation, families, churches and individual are at historic proportions.   Wrath, death and destruction are upon the land for our sins.   and the one people, the one's with the message to remedy this, the church are found to be as wayward, self driven, humanistic, and walking contrary unto the Lord as the heathen.   There is no gathering of the people of God to lament and mourn.   All I see is self pleasing, entertainment, sports, money spending and no restoration of broken relationship with God.  The appeal to leadership to respond has fallen on deaf ears, and God's wrath waxes hot.

PRAYER TARGETS

5 epidemics
I am not seeking to find these for the sake of making a point.  epidemic  is simply the best word that God has led me to, to describe our plight on our nation.  this is especially true in regards to the remedial judgements that I have share on.   And yet, the nonchalant attitude of church leadership to our destruction is frightening.   Epidemic is termed for its wide spreading affect upon the population, and can be measured by its endurance upon the people, as we see it defined for disease.   Thus, epidemics that I have share over the last month was 3, last week I added #4.   During Saturday night prayer at Fox's Hollow, and I shared with them the 4 epidemics, which they are aware of, in the midst of that praying, the cry over #5 rang out against and again.   Then on Sunday, as we held our Solemn Assembly the cry continued and repeated over this what I was hearing and seeing as the 5th epidemic.   The children.

Epidemics:
1.  Drugs;   numbers are not out but I suspect from my own gathering 2017 will hit close to or around 70,000 deaths.   This does not count the other health affects, od's, abuse, and health issues from it.   And this is only 1 year;  We are in our 4th decade of drug abuse.  We have gone from fighting it to now legalizing it.   Literally, 100,000's of deaths over the last decade has impacted every area of our families, churches, cities.   It is a sickening scourge on our nation, due to our sin.
This is what happens when God's anger is kindled against a people and He departs.  We are left to our own destuction.

2.  Cancer;   again wide and deep as been this pain upon so many loved ones, every family, every church, every city feels the sorrow, pain of this.   Almost every prayer request in churches has multiple cancer patients.  In the month of June, I had for the first 19 days of that month, new prayer requests coming in of those with cancer, or dealing with cancer for tests, procedures, surgery and recovery.   We pray, we treat it;  and the impact continues upon our nation.

3.   Great Evil of Murder;   I lumped summed this epidemic because of its impact in so many venues;   Quite the increase of murders on our streets, especially in the major cities.   Then we have the horrifying headlines of murder-suicides, usually domestic.   this is coupled with suicides that are on the increase in many norms.   Then we have the continued increase of mass shootings in its venue of school, church, police officers, public places.   Out of the minds and hearts of evil comes forth this evil that was rare, once a month, then weekly, then several a week, and now you would be hard pressed out of 365 days in a year, to find one day that this is not happening.   Never have we seen it like this.    but where is the cry?  where is the prayer focus and drawing attention to it, before the church to name it and cause them to see?   Usually, unspoken till it hits in our own back yard.   Why must we wait till then?   I believe in preventive prayers to combat it before it happens.

4.  LGBT AGENDA;   We have gone from laws against sodomy.  A people, a nation, a society that abhorred even the mention or thought of such perversion to now a legalized nation that supports it.   And even though, I do not believe that out of 330 million population in the US, that there is even 10% a part of this, because of God's anger being kindled against us, and He departing from us, He gives us over to a reprobate mind.   Back in the 1990's,if not 80's, Hollywood made this more and more acceptable on TV and movies.   They made comedies with it, and we laughed at it, but now, it is a norm.  a norm that if you speak against or denounce, they are vicious in their attacks.   They are seeking in this pursuit from hell to cause every state, coutny and city to legalize it and make it acceptable, with no limitations of the sexual perversion of our nation, and generations.   and God is allowing it.

5.  Children;   Last night two headlines stopped me, because of the mention I shared about Saturday and Sunday prayer times on abuse of children.  This epidemic is abuse, in all its forms of sexual, physical, and emotional.   the two accounts that reiterate our deepening plight was a mother in Kansas that allowed for men to rape her 2 yr. old daughter repeatedly.   The child now has an STD.   The other case was in Alabama were a family had raped, molested and perverted dozens over a 30 year period.   These are not isoalted cases, but an increase of continued evil on a weekly, and now becoming a daily issue.  The cases of sex trade world wide;  disappearances of children, children orphaned and neglected to the drug issues are all upon us and has only deepened for each generation coming forward.

How do you fix such a broken place, a broken people, broken homes, broken hearts?   Return to the Lord Who is able to do a work in us and through us.   Time has been lost in our worldly, carnal pursuits.   Time that has accelerated these epidemics.   God will make us, as the church answer for this in a two fold way:
What did you do to minister to them in their hour of need?   And there are many ministries rising up and helping.   And they are sharing great testimonies of salvation and deliverance and blessings.   but they are the 1's and the 2's among millions.   Celebrate and rejoice, yes;  but don't forget the larger picture that God sees, the whole.
Why did you not stop it?   You saw it, you heard it;  yet your apathy did not move you toward it.   The power of God is able to undo it and stop it.   Yet the failure ot respond rightly before the Lord has given us no ground that God says, 'I have heard your cry, I have seen your tears and I will grant you the desire of your heart.'   Tears?  cries?  lamentations?   A hard thing to find in the churches these days.   And thus, why we did not stop it.

Now there are definitely numerous other prayer targets that should be shared, mentioned and brought before us for prayer.  but at this time, I feel that these 5 should command our attention to focus on agreed prayer.   As fast as these have risen upon our nation in the last couple of years; yet decades sown, #6 and 7 may not be too far behind us.   A time to respond now, is needed.   We are approaching a line drawn in the sand, of which there is no return.   And it is not simply 'saying' prayers about it, there must be a fervent, urgent, broken and contrite emphasis.   A calling together, a focus upon such things; a continued laboring together and before the Lord for His mercy and grace to supercede His wrath and judgement.

PRAYER LINK GROUP SUGGESTIONS

Greetings,

Following our conference call and sharing of each's ministry roles in prayer we are asked to suggest 3 - 4 things to consider to bring before Pray Link in October.   This is to be formulated from our conversation and to address the need and direction of prayer among the SBC.   Here are a few of my conisderations:

1.   Where are we currently at?
I believe in order to address our future directive, we must assess where we are currently in our prayer life as a convention.   This exhausting work is not possible for every church, ministry and entity of the SBC.   But I do believe a cumulative approach to an overall numeric stats of our current spiritual life is possible.

To be broken down in the following manner:
1.  church - over 42,000 churches are SBC affiliated;
2.  associations - network of SBC officers that work directily with assocational leders/directors;   perhaps a email form asking what role prayer has throughout a year for these associations; prayer focus; prayer gathering/conferences/ etc.
3.  state convention - prayer emphasis; focus; projects; gatherings;
4.  entities of the SBC - seminaries; IMB: NAMB; ERLC;

An assessment from this to complie and present stating the "prayer life of the SBC';  from this we can know where we need to target and move forward.

2.  The Overall Goal
where do we want to go and be in the prayer life of the SBC?   What is our focus?  our priority in prayer?  Having the programs, materials, self-helps etc. are needed to be listed and used but what good does this do, if the church, group continues to be prayerless.   Whatever area is not praying, target that group to come along side them and offer, pray and help develop prayer focus.   Setting annual theme, focus to set before the SBC and incorporate participation at each level for their support. In this we can see those that participate and seek to be groups of prayer.    This will also allow for example of prayer to be given through the materials, videos, set meetings and gatherings for those that don't know how to lead a prayer time to visually and audible hear prayer led meetings and focus.

 3.  What hour are we in?
the absence of prayer among the SBC has little been addressed or focused.   Years have been lost, as it has been left largely to the individual pastor and church to develop their own prayer life.   But as we discussed, how does one develop what they never was taught, or witnessed?   Understanding that because of ignorance, lack of priority we have lost much time in this and are playing 'catch up' with a generation and gathering of our SBC brethren.   I suggest that we understand the hour we are in and that in some way this be stressed to Prayer Link and to the SBC groups mentioned above.
"The hour is late, and the need is great" for our nation, churches, families and our own hearts.   Scripture teaches us of this crisis hour.   Remedial judgements are accelerating, increasing, and we are approaching a "line' of no return.

I suggest a focus or message of the following terms to be incorporated or used in some manner:

Urgency - we are in crisis mode;  death and destruction are rampant and souls are being lost faster than we are reaching them;   every foundation of our society is crumbling or has crumbled;   This is an urgent message of need to respond to pray and pray so as to prevail with God and men.

Fervency - SBC and any other Christian group will respond when questioned about their prayer life and immediately respond, "I/we pray".   And that may be true.   But even the Muslims pray, the Buddhists pray, all religions pray, but what is being accomplished.   Therefore our focus is not just to have SBC pray;  Scripture states, 'the fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much'.   This term to be used, defined and set forth as an example of more fervency in our prayer life before God because of what is at stake and what is happening.

.Emergency - I have identified 5 epidemics upon our society right now unlike anything we have ever seen before.   The increase of this has caused and emergency upon the very existence of our nation.  Our future as SBC, as a nation is at stake.   Urgent, fervent and emergency should be pressed upon leadership to understand this most critical hour we are in.    Giving them the details of these emergencies are needful to stir the embers to blaze in zeal for our Lord's kingdom, holiness and righteousness.

Every week, every month, every year that continues to go by is a loss in our joint pursuit to pray so as to prevail.   These are my suggestions to consider and focus upon with Prayer Link and SBC groups.  My two themes that I use and offer to stress in our need in addressing the prayer life of the SBC:
'the hour is late and the need is great'
'don't just say prayers, pray so as to prevail'.

SOLEMN ASSEMBLY - JULY 15 - FOX'S HOLLOW

Greetings,
There has been a great call to prayer over the last decade from Family Research Council, called 'Call2Fall'.  and in this call is the request to spend 5 minutes on your knees, as a corporate body and pray for our nation.  The timing of this is generally been the Sunday before July 4th.   In that 5 minute pleading it is based on II Chronicles 7:14.  I was very pleased with this emphasis, but greatly discouraged that it was only 5 minutes and only 1 time a year.

We took this call and went further by staying on the first Sunday of each month.  And instead of 5 minutes of corporate prayer during worship hour, we cancelled sunday school and used that 45 to 50 minutes for corporate prayer time.  during this time we focused on worship - confession - pleadings.  Below is our 'sketch' of walking through this 2 hour prayer time using the term Solemn Assembly.
the hour is late for our nation, for our loved ones, for this generation and the need is great.  We will give ourselves to prayer; and pray so as to prevail with the Lord.

You will see that most of the major points of prayer is followed by 3 examples to be incorporated or prayed through.   There are numerous other verses but you are more than welcome to adapt and deepen this outline.

I.  WORSHIP

--Names of God;
'Jehovah-Jireh, the God Who provides';  Genesis 22:14
'For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, Whose Name is HOLY; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit, of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones."  Isaiah 57:15
Exodus 34:6 - 7;
Daniel 2:20 - 23;
John 14:6 - 7;

--Attributes of God;
Jeremiah 32:17 & 27  - nothing is too hard for Him - All powerful, Omnipotent;
"I am . . . '  of Christ; these are numerous in the Gospels:  I am the Light of the world; the door; the way, the truth, the life, Alph, Omega, Shepherd.

--Scriptures of God;
Isaiah 40:22; 42:5; 44:24; 45:12; 51:13; Zechariah 12:1;  He creates the heaven, the earth and all this is therein;
These are to show forth His deeds, works, will, glory and honor.

--Promises & Directives of God;
"Call unto Me and I will answer thee. . . "  Jeremiah 33:3
"Draw nigh unto Me and I will draw nigh unto you" - James 4:8
"Fear thou not:  for I am with thee:  be not dismayed; for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness"  Isaiah 41:10 - 14, 17
"For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground:  I will pour My Spirit upon thy seed, and My blessing upon thine offspring:" - Isaiah 44:3

--Thanksgivings for Who He is and what He has done;

Christ is Savior and Lord and He is sufficient.
 --'thou shalt call His Name, Jesus; for He shall save His people from their sins" - Matthew1:21;
--'to as many as would receive Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God' - John 1:12;
--'And now why tarriest thou?  arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the Name of the Lord." - Acts 22:16;
--'if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins' - I John 1:9;

II CONFESSION

After the prayer time of worship, we have been reminded, prayed and meditated on the great thoughts of God.   We have rehearsed Who He is, what He has done and how great are His ways.  As we see Him, high and lifted up, we are made keenly aware of our own filth.   Which leads us to confess and repent of our sins, transgressions and iniquities.  These are specific sins and we are to call them as such before the Lord, Who already knows wherein our sins lies.  But His Holy Spirit is pricking us and prodding us that we would be made aware of them, so that we may put them from us.

"If I regard iniquity within my heart, He will not hear me" - Psalm 66:18
"Who shall ascend into the hill of the LOrd? or who shall stand in His Holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart, who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.  He shall receive the blessing of the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation." - Psalm 24:3 - 5

--Our Own heart; Personal sins;

--Our families;

--Our church; ;

--Our nation;

III.  PLEADINGS

"in wrath remember mercy"
"will Thou not revive us again"
"You shall be endued with power from on high";  'and they were all filled with Holy Ghost"
'Thou art now, the favoured of the Lord" - His church;
'blessings instead of cursings'
'healings of our land, homes, heart and minds'
'tear down strongholds, imaginations'

Victories over the 4 epidemics of our society and nation:  1.  Drugs;  2.  Cancer; 3. Great Evils of Murder, Death;  4.  LGBT agenda;

 Conclusion
In drawing ot a close in our prayer time and reflection on where we are, where our church is, where our families our and where our nation is, let us stay before the Lord to renew our vows.  A covenant vow to surrender to Him, obey Him and follow after Him in all that He would require of us.

ACTIVITY OF GOD IN THE BIBLE - NUMBERS

The Activity of God

Going through the Bible, book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse, phrase by phrase and word by word to give attention to the following:
--the Names of God;
--the word & deeds of God;
--the sayings of God;
--the attributes of God;

Too often the churches weakness and the Christians weakness is found in this one sin, 'we do not know God'.  We have not studied the Bible, nor Him to learn more of Him.  Seeking that this might be a help for myself and others in this pursuit that each of us 'may grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord.'
