THE PLIGHT OF THE SBC/the NORTH AMERICAN CHURCH

Greetings,
"But My people would not hearken to My voice; and Israel would none of Me."
"So I gave them up unto their own hearts' just:  and they walked in their own counsels."
"Oh that My people had hearkened unto Me, and Israel had walked in My ways!"
Psalm 81:11 - 13

The hour is late; the need is great; and we must pray so as to prevail! - D Biser

One of the catalyst that God stirs me with to pray, to seek Him, to serve Him, to be obedient to Him is to answer this question:  "What is at stake?"  And the answer - "Everything".Future is at stake; souls are at stake; our nation; our families fate; our society are all at stake;  but above all ETERNITY. is at stake for humanity.

If all this is at stake, then why would we not be more emphatic about that which really matters.   Why would we not be engaged to seek God's Divine Presence and help?  Why would we not do something about it?   Now when I say 'do something about it" I am not referring to the church's answer to this, in humanism.   Humanism has created our dilemma and must be recognized and dealt with.   Or our plight will bring us to a place of 'no return'.

What Plight?

Within the past month, the numerical stats of the SBC came out, reporting a loss across the board in everything from new church plants, to baptisms.   membership decreasing, attendance, are all reflecting the reality of our nation and our time, that God is not among us.   God wants to be among us, but the truth is that our actions reveal whether we really want God or not.  And our plight is found in this truth that the Lord has declared in the Scripture, 'you have forsaken me, therefore I will forsake you'.    Our plight is that we are dangerously close to Ichabod in the North American Christian church.

The church in our last 50 years has allowed abortions, and homosexuality, and drug use to be legalized.  All of which to the judgement of our nation and upon our future.   We have become humanist, where we quote, 'I can do all things through Christ'; and yet with the practice of Nike, "I will 'just do it'"    The ways of the world have taken over our music and disciplines.   We would rather watch a movie about prayer than actually pray.  Movies have become a snare to the church today and siphoned millions of dollars away from what could have done the mission work and translations.   All the while we applaud the use of movie genre to best Hollywood.   Such things can only happen when our priorities are wrong and our understanding of our plight is obscure.

Our plight is that we need God now, more than ever.   A Divine visitation, His Manifest Presence to come down as in revivals long ago.    For when that happens, He makes the wrongs right.  Humanism dies, because faith is resting and trusting in God alone.   Sin is put away and once again holiness is sought, lived and promoted.  "Be ye holy, as I am holy".   herein is our plight, that all the spiritual disciplines that brings us to God are abandoned  and God is forsaken and forgotten.  Replaced with new methods and means of men to apply spiritual truths to make us rich, happy and at ease.   We have lost our way.

Cause & Affect

God declares cause and affect with our relationship between Him and His church.  This is on the corporate level as well as the individual.   If we 'draw night unto God, He draws night unto us';  if we 'abide in Him, He abides in us'.   But if we forsake and forget Him, He will forsake and forget us.   Thus our choices, routines, habits, daily lives create cause and affect with God or without God.

Our nation, it cannot be argued, is reaping the affects of judgement and wrath due to their loud, public, majority driven agenda of forgetting and forsaking God.   All in these decades has the voice of the people been heard loudly that they do not want the church, the bible nor God.   Only in times of calamity and harm do they even acknowledge Him.  And even in the last crisis hours of our nation they seek to blame God or not even acknowledge Him.   They seek to remove God from the very midst of their lives and the impact of their lives.  Now it is one thing to expect this of lost people, but of His church?

You cannot dismiss the research I did last year in regards to corporate prayer times among SBC.   It was revealed that corporate prayer meetings are not done by 85% of entities and churches.   Only a small remnant of 12 - 15% have an hour of corporate prayer per month.   Hell rejoices at such cause and affect of the sin of prayerlessness among the church.   His church has allowed for the world to creep in and now occupy too much of their budgets, positions, services, plans and priorities.   It is about seeker friendly, rather than God friendly.   Can God bless that which dishonors Him?   Cause and affect, you cannot replace what God has stamped as His ways and Word for what man wants.   If they want that then let them go to the 'lions, moose, or ruritan clubs'.   The church is not a social place, but a holy place.   And when wayward, lost men dictate the path of the church, hell has its will and way with it.   Less Bible, preaching, teaching, prayer and more meals, music and methods.   As Bonar said, 'I looked for the church and found it in the world;  I looked for the world and found it in the church."    this cannot be if we seek to please God, advance His kingdom and put hell on retreat.

Therefore, acknowledge that our plight is happening due to cause and affect in our relationship and obedience or disobedience to God.   And herein must be our focus of examination as a convention, as the church, and in our own personal self-examination.   Answering the question, 'Lord, am I right with You?'   And I believe with all my heart that the soul, the group that comes before the Lord in such examination of cause and affect, that the Holy Ghost will speak and direct.  Saying, "This is the way not walk in ti."   Oh brethren, the affects of our nation, homes, and hearts and houses of worship today is directly linked to our cause of relationship with God.

IN order to correct the plight of our day, this must be understood, examined and corrected.   And this is found in the remedy suggested next. . .

Remedy

The remedy is easy, 'return unto the Lord';  'restore holiness in the church and in our hearts'.   Get back to the old paths.   The first Great Awakening in the 1700's came about because of this very returning unto the Lord.  Our young nation was falling rapidly into open sin, retreating from the church and living and functioning for self.   Over in Scotland pastors had seen the handwriting on the wall and addressed it.   They called for 'Concerts of Prayer'.  Of which they would fast and pray the first Tuesday of every month.  And within that first week have a time of corporate prayer for beseeching God to help, forgive and renew them.   God came and in answer to that call.   Jonathan Edwards read of this and adopted the same thing.   Shortly after that revival came to the church and spread into spiritual awakening among the lost masses of the United States.

Herein is our remedy, return unto the Lord, as He has commanded and spoken.   Get back to private prayer and fasting; mourning over personal sin and corporate sin and national sin;  weep over the lost and the advancement of hell;  and gather together corporately to cry out to God to hear and answer.    Be diligent to respond and obey and let it not be said of us, 'I was not disobedient unto the heavenly calling'.

Much time has been lost, yet God has still afforded us time to repent and gather before Him.  For the last decade the issue has gone out to church leaders, generally falling on deaf ear.   All the while touting, 'appreciate your heart and we agree, something must be done, but we don't know what.'  But if we know something must be done, then why not follow the word of the Lord?   Why wait till its too late?   Why must we always wait too late and call for gathering after a calamity or disaster before we seek the Lord.  Let us seek Him now, 'for who knows if He will return and repent and leave a blessing behind for us.'   Our remedy is to call upon Him and to return to a practice of holiness and surrender to Him.

It is time to seek the Lord; it is time to return to the old paths; it is time to fall in love with God all over again with whole heart, not half-hearts.    the choice of response reveals the heart.   And now a short window is extended to see the response.   My prayers and voice continues to speak that which the Lord has laid on me for the glory of His Presence and Name to be found among us.

blessings,

Until,
Dan Biser

PRAYER BLOG - MAY 27

Greetings,

"But My people would not hearken to My voice; and Israel would none of Me."
"So I gave them up unto their own hearts' just:  and they walked in their own counsels."
"Oh that My people had hearkened unto Me, and Israel had walked in My ways!"
Psalm 81:11 - 13

There are two issues at hand that burden my heart and soul right now.   I share these with you in the hopes of seeing an increase in prevailing prayer.
1.  Persecution for the church;
2.   SBC plight;
Both of these I will address in fuller blog posts, and this is to share my heart with you and ask for agreement prayers regarding these two things.

The enemy is coming forth in a fury against the children of God worldwide.   More deaths, more church's destroyed, more laws restricting, more ravaging of homes and all out assault against the people of God.  I do not know of a time that we have seen, as we have seen these last 5 months of this year the assault on the Christian church and the people of God.   Satan is definitely working with a vengeance against the church, no doubt, as we know from Scripture, 'because he knows his time is short'.

Yet, is there a labor of love and prayer from the church here in North America?    Do you weep and lament to read and hear of so much happening against brothers and sisters in Christ abroad?   Where is the unified prayers of God's people for the church, the whole bride, for the kingdom of our Lord?   Where is the directive from church leaders to address this slaughter and persecution?  Where is the call for prayer 'morning, noon and night' on behalf of our Lord's work?

Has God not called us to 'bear one another's burdens?   Has God not said, 'pray one for another"?  We were given plenty of warning signs and admonishes from the Lord's men to prepare, to get ready, to stand firm.   But we would not hearken to Him; a slow erosion among the church that we would not listen; we were given over to our own lusts.  The LGBT is only one component of hell coming against the church.   They are forcing laws and its end game is to silence and destroy the church.  Hell is winning with this agenda.  The church largely still unsure of how to speak truth or declare truth.   Thus we sit largely in silence.   Their laws, court cases, coupled with powerlessness from the church are accelerating the cause of hell against Christianity.   Couple in to this the agenda move of other religions against Christianity and it is another David vs. Goliath.   Winnable of course if we believe and trust like David; defeat is certain if we continue in our schemes and self power.

The power of prevailing is found in God.  The power of defeat is found in self and trust in means and methods of men.   WE refused to walk in his ways.   The vast majority of the church in North america is still prayerless; the church is guilty of the sin of prayerlessness.    Warned, told, admonished, rebuked, yet still defiant against the Lord's ways and word.   Refusing to listen, God gave them over to their own lusts.   Sports, entertainment, self, money, ease are the gods of the pulpit and pews of the church today.  Now sexual misconduct, allegations, abuse are coming forth due to porn driven preachers, parishioners and sexual predators in ministry and homes.   Abusive, greedy, self-willed, rebellious, pride are traits that should not be mentioned among the brethren nor found within the lifestyles of God's people.  Yet, here we are.

there is the great need today to understand these are events leading up to the end times.  These are moments, 'for such a time as this' for the church to see, understand and fight the 'good fight'.   War a good warfare, does not mean leaving your fallen brethren behind.   But rather, weep with those that weep; mourn with those that mourn; rejoice with those that rejoice and engage in the battle for God's glory.

Brethren, do not be found guilty of the charges laid against Israel by God in Psalm 81.   Do not let us follow and repeat the same folly and invoke God's wrath against us, forsaking of us and departing from us.   OH, how we need Him in these hours.   But rather for us to be much before Him.   Praying His heart, His will.   Being much more conscience of eternal, kingdom matters than carnal, temporal ones.   Understand that this is our time to be much engaged in our Lord's work, for these are the last days.   And God's desire is to be glorified in all the earth.  And that happens, when His people obey, follow, and do His ways and works.

Secondly, it is my own Southern Baptist.

Long have I understood that the means and ways of Southern Baptist are largely humanism.  But a  remnant in the midst are seeking and long to see a work of God that mirrors the great revivals of old, where God comes down in power.   And when God comes down and uses His people, holiness is restored to His people, much sin and evil is undone and many souls are ushered into the kingdom of God.   But none of this happens so long as men will not hear the word of the Lord, nor turn from their own ways.

A people that yields to God in all their ways.  Greater holiness, greater prayer and greater faith to be much before Him.   Yet, a rise in the church today mirrors the above words of rebuke, refusing to hear, refusing to mend their ways.   Thus leading to God removing Himself and giving us over to our own lusts.   And is this not the case!   The report came out this week, that God is not among us.   In all ways of our convention, every thing is down.  Not growing, but decreasing.

why?   Because we left off God.  We refused to give heed to the warnings.   We became humanist in our worship services.  man made in our missions and means; and somewhere along the line, we left off God.   We forgot that God's people must seek God;  must be much before Him and be endued with His power from on high.   But I fear, because men were unwilling to wait, to obey, to stay before Him, they sought a quicker means, a faster answer, a fleshly answer.  And it thus doing it, they refused to hear the words of the Lord and gave place to their ways over God's ways.   thus, provoking God to withdraw, to depart and turn us over to our fleshly desires.

Thus we are at the crossroads.   It is not too late.   Do not such things break the heart and crush the soul?!   Does this not break me within saying, 'O Father, do not let us end up like Israel; restore unto us Your Presence."  There is still time to return, to seek Him and to renew our vows to Him.   Forsake the crafts of humanism and restore the 'old paths' and wait upon God to pour out a blessing.   Put away the sinfulnes of the world, renew the times before Him in worship, in prayer, in Word, in evangelism.   Put God first and quit compromising with the world and its ways.   Cling to that which is good and forsake that which is evil.   Let us rest and trust in the Lord; His ways and means are right.

One answer to these things facing us today is to renew the call for Concerts of Prayer immediately.

The hour is late, the need is great; pray so as to prevail!

PRAYER BLOG - MAY 16

Greetings,

"Then call Thou and I will answer; or let me speak, and answer Thou me." - Job 13:22
"Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee; Thou wilt have a desire to the work of Thine hands." Job 14:15

"Call & Answer" - it is one of the great word/phrase studies of the Bible.   Largely based on the promises of God, found in Jeremiah 33:3, 'Call and I will answer'; and Matthew 7:7 & 8, 'Ask and it shall be given'; which is the same reaction of call and answer.   It is the two fold response on God and man.   God calls and we answer;   we call and God answers.   but woe unto  us, if this breaks down and God calls, but we don't answer; or we call and God refuses to answer.

The lie perpetuated today is that God answers all that call upon Him.   And the Scripture directly teaches against this.   There are numerous passages that tell us that God says, He will not answer us, yea even some verses that God will not hear the prayer.   And this is largely that when He called, we would not answer.   A confession that must be addressed among the church today.  He called us to the secret  closet, we were busy watching TV;  He called us to the bible, we were busy on facebook;  He called us to witness to that man at work or at the store, we were too ashamed.   But as soon as we have need, we go flying into His Presence and expect Him to answer, even though there be sin found within us for our disobedience.

And in these troublesome days of evil we are ever more needed to make sure that at both times of calling and answering, we are obedient, and He is willing.  How awful to stand at judgement day and hear Him rebuke us, "I was more than willing and able to answer your call, but you would never answer Mine."   Therefore purge away the old dross, the carnality and strive to abide in Him.   Make sure you are at one with Him and in Him.  He will bring sin to mind and heart that is offensive to Him and we will be able to recognize it, correct it, confess it and repent of it.   make sure there is no provision for the flesh, but only abiding in the Spirit.

And make sure, that after last years numerics were brought to light that only 12 - 15% of SBC churches were having one hour prayer meetings in a month.  The sin of prayerlessness is much among us, and yet often never confessed nor addressed.  WE are not calling upon God.  NO wonder there is so much left unanswered..   Among talk of the prayer movement, I am not convinced that our greatest sin is still we are not calling.   He is willing and able, as I wrote, to answer; but He is waiting for someone to call.   "I looked for a man, but I could not find any.'

Now brethren, everything of future, His Name sake, His kingdom, souls, are before us.   Let us make sure that we are calling to Him, so that He may answer.  Let us call, 'morning, noon and night will I lift up my cry before You'; 'Daniel prayed three times a day';  give place to the inner chamber, the secret closet for He calls you, and there you may call upon Him.   Let us come together in corporate settings, at least to start, once a month to call upon Him.   'Forsake not the assembling of yourselves together, as the manner of some be'; 'and they were gathered together praying'.   Let us call, that He may answer;  and when He calls, let us answer in obedience.

the hour is late, the need is great, let us pray so as to prevail. . .
