Greetings,
". . . because joy is withered away from the sons of men. Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God. . . Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and cry unto the Lord, Alas for the day! for the day of the Lord is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come." Joel 1:12 - 15
As many of you may know, within the last 24 hours I have sent out an email and a youtube video, calling for A Solemn Assembly. I have shared from Joel 1, on that call, and it is also within chapter 2. I would like to share with you my heart on this and why now.
1. What is going on? - God has sent remedial judgements of various kinds upon the nations, our nation, churches, homes and the minds and hearts of men. God has done this for our iniquity and transgressions. These times of remedial judgements are a warning and an act of mercy from God. They are designed to remind us of our low place and great need for Him. These are times to cause us to see and know our sins and confess and repent from them. these are times to declare to the heathen what God has said, commanded and expects. When these times are rejected by men, by men saying they are not from God; and when they are dismissed as not being God's judgement, it sets up for a greater calamity. God will be glorified whether men believe it or not. But how much worse is it if the God's Own people do not know or understand His ways.
After decades of judgements, from meager ones, to more profound ones, God has been speaking and revealing His anger and fury against us. We have not responded rightly, and these judgements increased to EPIDEMICS. When EPIDEMICS reach their place, the cup of God's wrath overflows and death is cast upon the people. This is where we are now at.
2. Why is this happening? - as mentioned, we have sinned against God, in horrible ways; so much to the place, that God spoke and declared Ezekiel 16:2, 'cause them to know their abominations'. This has greatly impacted me over the last two months. But God is speaking clearly. And the response of the church has not met God in these times of warning. As I have shared in lieu of the call for a solemn assembly; we missed our moments to humble ourselves before God and cry out to Him after 9/11; after Columbine; after Sandy Hook and after Hurricane Katrina. We didn't understand what was happening, nor why it was happening. And if we don't learn it this time, I fear for what may come next.
God's people are so far from Him in knowledge of Who God is, and what His Word has said. We have been as consumed with sensual, carnal, earthly things, as the lost. When we should have been concerned with holy, heavenly and eternal things. WE must understand why and respond rightly this time. Time is of the essence. God is at work in these times. Revival or judgement? or both? It remains to be seen, but no doubt after this will come the next of God's plan to be revealed for His kingdom and end times.
3. Why the Solemn Assembly - the Solemn Assembly is answering both of the previous points. Addressing what is happening and why God is doing this and to cause us to respond rightly before Him. To come before God and acknowledge Who He is and what He is and can do and has done. We are to acknowledge and make known our abominations as a nation, the church, our families and our own hearts. The Solemn Assembly draws us before God and causes us to see ourselves as God sees us.
Time must be given to this. This is not an hour service and quickly hastened along. This is not saying we are going to pray and then listen to 40 minutes of music. This is a time to bow, to be prostrate before Him and follow the instructions of Joel 1 & 2. The urgency of the hour of life and death hangs in the balances for all. Every day 1000 are dying from this plague. And if not already, soon within weeks, death and sickness will be upon every home, city, community and our fellow church friends. It may and will be upon some of you and perhaps me.
Eternity is hastening on for 1000's. And they are not ready. The urgency of this should compel us to respond NOW. Time is of the essence NOW. It is time for the church to get right, to be Spirit filled and holy and right with God. To be a voice, a light a word for this hour. 'For such an hour as this, God has caused us to be here.' Understand the significance of what is happening and what will come from this. IT is time to be everything that God wants us to be in this hour.
What am I asking with Solemn Assembly:
1. a national call to the church first, and then to the public and leaders to join;
2. to set time for two day event before the Lord; Suggested April 25 - 26;
3. Solemn Assembly is to gather the people together. but due to our plight that is not possible. Therefore it would need to come via live stream and/or simulcast.
4. Who? It is needful for all the church to respond. I believe that 'let judgement begin at the house of God' and then to the nation. Let us, as the church, deal with our relationship first, then present to the lost.
5. I know that the Biblical and historical solemn assembly was intended for the nation, political and spiritual leaders. There is a call for one in September; therefore it may be necessary to call this a prelude and right ourselves in the midst of the nation mourning, in fear and in need.
6. I have reached out to church and prayer leaders to join and help in shaping and promoting this. If they refuse, then I will carry it myself. Pray for me regarding this.
PRAYER TARGETS:
Corona virus - life & death; families; medical workers; homes/families; economic scenarios; global political moments; anarchy/chaos/fear;
Church - witness; testimony; outreach; impact; kingdom; solitude time; return & revive;
Homes - abuse; neglect of children home from school; domestic abuse increase; murder-suicides increasing among domestic; lostness;
Nations - rioting and unrest in Italy; increase for anarchy and economies crashing; what this will look like on the other side is unknown;
How this fits into end times remains unseen, but God is orchestrating for that.
Persecution in China is increasing during and after this plague.
Other things continue - natural disasters - tornadoes, earthquakes, volcanoes, fires in China;
Cancers, addictions, great evil,
