Too
often the churches weakness and the Christians weakness is found in
this one sin, 'we do not know God'. We have not studied the Bible, nor
Him to learn more of Him. Seeking that this might be a help for myself
and others in this pursuit that each of us 'may grow in grace and
knowledge of our Lord.'
II SAMUEL
Chapter 1
1:12 for the people of the Lord God's people;
1:14 to destroy the Lord's anointed God's anointed destroyed;
1:16 I have slain the Lord's anointed. God's anointed slain;
Chapter 2
2:1 that David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And the Lord said unto hm, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And He said, Unto Hebron. God is enquired of by David for direction; And God said/spoke/answered (2); God answers him and gives place and direction to go up;
2:5 Blessed be ye of the Lord God gives and is the blessed One;
2:6 And now the Lord shew kindness and truth unto you God shows kindness and truth, is Truth;
2:27 As God liveth God lives & is life;
Chapter 3
3:9 So do God to Abner and more also except, as the Lord hath sworn to David, even so I do to him God does to men, Abner recognizes this; And God said/spake/swore; God swore to David to do it;
3:18 Now, then do it, for the Lord hath spoken of David, saying, By the hand of My servant David I will save My people Irael out of the hand of the Philistines and out of the hand of all their enemeis. And God said/spoke; God declared that through David being chosen, he would lead them; I will's of God to save Israel out of Philistines hand and out of the hand of their enemies through David;
3:28 I and my kingdom are guiltless before the Lord forever from the blood of Abner God sees and knows who is guilty before Him;
3:35 So do God to me, and more also, if I taste bread, or ought else, till the sun be down. God do me also, is David's request as he fasts before the Lord for Abners death;
3:39 the Lord shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness. God rewards the doer of evil and wickedness;
Chapter 4
4:8 the Lord hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul and of his seed God avenges for His people and upon the wicked;
4:9 as the Lord liveth, Who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity God lives; God redeems out of physical harm and spiritual lostness;
Chapter 5
5:2 and the Lord said to thee, Thou shalt feed My people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel. And God said/spoke; God chose David and made him king over all Israel; God instructs him to feed His people and be captain over them;
5:3 made a league with them in Hebron before the Lord God sees and knows that which is done before Him for His purposes;
5:10 and the Lord God of hosts was with him God is with His chosen ones; God is with me;
5:12 And David perceived that the Lord had established him king over Israel, and that He had exalted his kingdom for His people Israel's sake. God establishes him as king over Israel; God exalts His kingdom for His people and for His purposes;
5:19 And David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? And the Lord said unto David, Go up; for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand. God is enquired of by His people for His will; And God said/spoke; I will's of God to deliver enemy into his hand; God gives direction;
5:20 The Lord hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me God breaks forth upon the enemies of His people;
5:23 and when David enquired of the Lord, He said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees. God is enquired of by His people; And God said/spoke; God gave specific instructions of what he was to do;
5:24 for then shall the Lord go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines God gave specific instructions of what David to wait for the wind to blow and what he was to do; God goes out before him to defeat his enemy;
5:25 as the Lord had commanded him the Lord commanded;
Chapter 6
6:2 to bring up from thence the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the Lord of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubims God's ark of the covenant; God's name is called the Lord of hosts; God dwells between the cherubims on the ark of the covenant;
6:3 And they set the ark fo God upon a new cart God's ark of the covenant;
6:4 accompanying the ark of God God's ark of the covenant;
6:5 And David and all the house of Israel played before the Lord on all manner of instruments God sees and hears the music played before Him as they worshipped;
6:6 Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it God's ark of the covenant was not to be touched by man, nor placed upon a cart;
6:7 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God. God was angry against Uzzah; God smote him that he died for his sin; God's ark is holy and not to be defiled;
6:8 and David was displeased because the Lord had made a breach upon Uzzah God made a breach upon Uzzah for touching the ark of God;
6:9 And David was afraid of the Lord that day, and said, How shall the ark of the Lord come to me? the fear of the Lord; God's ark to go where God says for it to go;
6:10 So David would not remove the ark of the Lord unto him God's ark removed to Obededom; God's ark removed away from David;
6:11 And the ark of the Lord continued in the house of Obededom three months; and the Lord blessed Obededom, and all his household. God's ark continues in his house 3 months; God blesses his house for this;
6:12 The Lord hath blessed the house of Obededom, and all that pertaineth unto him because of the ark of God. so David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with gladness. God blesses his house and all that pertains unto him; God's ark blesses or cureses; God's ark brought up by David into the city with gladness;
6:13 they that bare the ark of the Lord had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings. God's ark bore by men and sacrificed unto Him;
6:14 And DAvid danced before the Lord with all his might; God sees and knows DAvid's dance is unto Him and before Him;
6:15 brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet God's ark brought up with praises and music;
6:16 And as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David. . saw king David leaping and dancing before the Lord God's ark comes into the city; God sees and knows David dancing and leaping before Him;
6:17 And they brought in the ark of the Lord, and set it in His place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it; and David offered burnt offerings an dpeace offerings before the Lord. God's ark brought into tabernacle and set before the Lord; God sees and receives offerings offered by David before Him;
6:18 he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of hosts God blesses His people;
6:21 And David said unto Michal, It was before the Lord which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, overIsrael; therefore will I play before the Lord. God chose David in place of Saul and his house; God sees and knows that Davids dancing was before Him; God's people; God sees and knows of Daivd playing before Him worship and praise;
Chapter 7
7:1 and the Lord had given him rest round about from all his enemies God gives rests from enemies all around;
7:2 but the ark of the Lord dwelleth within curtains God's ark of the covenant dwells within curtains;
7:3 the Lord is with thee God is with David and His people;
7:4 that night that the word of the Lord came unto Nathan saying, and God said/spoke; God's word come to God's prophet;
7:5 Go and tell My servant David, Thus saith the Lord, Shalt thou build Me an house for Me to dwell in? God's servant is David; And God said/spoke; God gives directive to Nathan, go and tell; God asks a question for David in building Him an house to dwell in;
7:6 Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle. God has not dwelt in a house; God brought up Israel out of Egypt; God walked in tent and tabernacle thus far;
7:7 In all the places where I have walked with all the children of Irael, spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed My people Israel, saying, Why build ye not Me an house of cedar? God walked among Israel; And God said/spoke; the Lord commanded; God's people Israel; God asks question;
7:8 Now therefore so shalt thou say unto My servant David, thus saith the Lord of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people, over Israel God instructs Nathan what to say to David; God's servant DAvid; And God said/spoke; God took him from sheep and made him ruler over God's people, Israel;
7:9 And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.
God was with David wherever he went; God cut off all his enemies out of his sight; God made him a great name in all the earth;
7:10 Moreover I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime. I will's of God to appoint His people a place; I will's of God to plant them and cause them to dwell in that place and not be moved anymore; God will protect them from children of wickedness;
7:11 And as since the time that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemas. Also the Lord telleth thee that He will make thee an house. the Lord commanded; God directed for judges to rule over His people; God caused rest for him from all his enemies; God declares that David shall have a sure house always; And God said/spoke;
7:12 I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. I will's of God (2) to set up David's seed after him; I will establish his kingdom; Omniscient; Omnipresent;
7:13 He shall build an house for My Name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever. I will's of God to stablish his kingdom for ever; God foretells that David's son, shall be the one to build the temple unto His Name; Omnipresent;
7:14 I will be his father, and he shall be My son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men; I will's of God (2) to be his father and he, His son; I will's of God to chasten him when he sins;
7:15 But My mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee. God's mercy to not depart from Solomon; God took it away from Saul; God put away Saul for his sin;
7:16 God directs that Davids house shall be established for ever.
7:18 then went king David in, and sat before the Lord, and he said, Who am I, O Lord God? and what is my house, that Thou hast brought me hitherto? God sees and hears His servant come in before Him and pray and worship;
7:19 this was yet a small thing in Thy sight, O Lord God, but Thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord God? God sees the things of men, this great honor was a small thing in His sight; God spoke to that which shall be; Omnipresent; Omniscient; God knows the ways of man of that which shall be;
7:20 for Thou, Lord God knowest Thy servant God knows His servant and that which shall be;
7:21 For Thy Word's sake, and according to Thine Own heart, hast Thou done all these great things to Make Thy servant know them. God's Word to be fulfilled and done for His Name sake; God's hearts will to be done; God did and does all these great things that He may be glorified; God causes His people to know them;
7:22 Wherefore Thou art great, O Lord God: for there is none like Thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears. God is great; God is the only God, and there is none else but Him;
7:23 whom God went to redeem for a people to Himself, and to make Him a Name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land before Thy people, which Thou redeemedst to Thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods? God redeems Hims people unto Himself; God makes His Name great, for it is great; God did/.does great & terrible things for His people; God redeemed them from Egypt and from false gods;
7:24 For Thou hast confirmed to Thyself Thy people Israel to be a people unto Thee for ever: and Thou, Lord art become their God. God confirmed Israel as His people unto Himself for ever; God is Lord and their God;
7:25 And now, O Lord God, the word that Thou hast spoken concerning Thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as Thou hast said. And God said/spoke (2); God's Word to be fulfilled and is fulfilled to His servants and his house; God does what He says;
7:26 And let Thy Name be magnified for ever, saying, The Lord of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of Thy servant David be established before thee. God's Name to be magnified for ever; God is Lord over Israel and it is His hosts; God's knows His servants house and establishes it before Him; God sees and knows;
7:27 For Thou, O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, hat revealed to Thy servant, saying, I will build thee an house; therefore hath Thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto Thee. God is the Lord of hosts and of Israel; God reveals His will and that which is to be to His servant; And God said/spoke; I will's of God to build David an house; God receives, hears and sees David's prayer unto Him;
7:28 And now, O Lord God, Thou art that God, and Thy words be true, and Thou hast promised this goodness unto Thy servant; God is God, God's Word are true; God promises goodness unto His servants and will fulfill it;
7:29 Therefore now let it please Thee to bless the house of Thy servant, that it may continue for ever before Thee: for Thou, O Lord God, hast spoken it: and with Thy blessing let the house of Thy servant be blessed for ever. God is to be pleased; God blesses His servants house; God allows and causes His servants to continue before Him for ever; And God said/spoke; God blesses His servants house for ever more;
Chapter 8
8:6 And the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went. God preserves His servant whithersoever we go/went;
8:11 David did dedicate unto the Lord God receives gifts dedicated unto Him;
8:14 And the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went. God preserves His servant whithersoever we go/went;
Chapter 9
9:3 that I may shew the kindness of God unto him? God is kind and shows forth through His people and servants;
Chapter 10
10:12 Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the Lord do that which seemeth Him good. God's cities and people to be defended; God will do that which is right and good in His sight;
Chapter 11
11:27 but the thing that David had done displeased the Lord God displeased with David's adultery and murder of Urijah;
Chapter 12
12:1 And the Lord sent Nathan unto David, and he came unto him and said God sends prophet to David for condemnation; And God said/spoke;
12:5 as the Lord liveth God lives and is;
12:7 And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul And God said/spoke; God anointed David to be king; God delivered him from Saul;
12:8 And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee th house of ISrael and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things. God gave David all of Sauls house; God gave him the kingdom of Israel and Judah; God was ready to have given more;
12:9 Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the Lord to do evil in His sight? the Lord commanded; God sees and knows of David's sin; God tells him his sin, murder & adultery; Omniscient;
12:10 because thou hast despised Me God is despised; God tells him that sword shall never depart from his house for his sin; Omnipresent; Omniscient;
12:11 thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will reaise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, And God said/spoke; I will's of God (2) to raise up evil from his own house; I will's of God to take away his wives and give them to another; Omniscient; Omnipresent;
12:12 but I will do this thing before all Israel and before the sun I will's of God to do this publicly as David did it privately;
12:13 And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord. And Nathan said unto David, The Lord also hath put away thy sin thou shalt not die. God sees and hears the confession of His servant; God knows those that sin against Him; God put away his sin - grace & mercy; God spares his life;
12:14 because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die. God's Name blasphemed; Great occasion against the Lord by his sin; God kills the child; Omniscient; Omnipresent;
12:15 And the Lord struck the child that Uriah's wife bare unto David, and it was very sick. God struck child and very sick to death;
12:16 And David besought God for the child God sees and hears those that beseech Him for others;
12:20 and came into the house of the Lord and worshipped God hears and sees and knows those that worship Him; God's house;
12:22 Who can tell whether God will be gracious to me, that the child may live? God is gracious and God knows those that die and live;
12:24 and the Lord loved him God loves him;
12:25 And He sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet, and He called his name Jedidah, because of the Lord. God sends His prophet to speak; God calls him Jedidah; God's Divine providence;
Chapter 13
NO ACTIVITY OF GOD - 1st chapter of II Samuel; 9th chapter overall in the bible thus far;
Chapter 14
14:11 Let the remember the Lord thy God. . . . as the Lord liveth God to be remembered and His ways; the Lord liveth;
14:13 hast thou thought such a thing against the people of God? God's people;
14:14 neither doth God respect any person, yet doth He devise me4ans, that His banished be not expelled from him God does not respect men; God devises means to gather His chosen unto Him and expell them from Him;
14:16 out of the inheritance of God God inheritance is His people and land;
14:17 as an angel of God. . . .therefore the Lord thy God will be with thee God's angels; God is with His Own;
14:20 as an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth God's angels tell God all that happens in the earth;
Chapter 15
15:7 let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed unto the Lord God requires all vows by man unto Himself to be fulfilled; though there was no vow here, and the use of God was a means to evil ends;
15:8 If the Lord shall bring me again indeed to Jeruslaem then I will serve the Lord. God hears and knows vows that men make unto Him; God honors the ones that keep their vows unto Himself; God judges vows for those that don't keep their word;
15:21 As the Lord liveth God lives;
15:24 bearing the ark of the covenant of God: and they set down the ark of God God's ark of the covenant brought forth, and set down before the people to pass over the brook and out of the city;
15:25 Carry back the ark of God into the city: if I shall find favour in the eyes of the Lord He will bring me again and show me both it and His habitation. God's ark to be taken back into the city; God sees and grants or withholds favour; I will's of God to bring again David and show him favour in the habitation fo the city and the ark;
15:26 But if He thus say, I ahve no delight in thee, behold, here am I , let Him do to me as seemeth good unto Him. And God said/spoke; God shows delight or not; God will do that which is good in His sight;
15:29 carried the ark of God again to Jerusalem God's ark brought back into the city;
15:31 And David said, O Lord, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness God hears and knows the prayers of His people; God requested by David to undo the counsel of Ahithopehl;
15:32 where he worshipped God God is worshipped in good times and bad, at all times;
Chapter 16
16:8 The Lord hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the Lord hath delivered the kingdom into the harnd of Absalom thy son. God returns blood upon the wicked; God was refereenced by Shimei in a hateful evil way;
16:10 the Lord hath said unto him, Curse David, and God said/spoke; God pronounces curses and blessings;
16:11 for the Lord hath bidden him God bids men to curse and bless as He sees fit; this was not of God, but of man;
16:12 It may be the Lord will look on mine affliction and that the Lord will requite me good for his cursing this day. I will's of God to look on David's abuse and answer it (2); God will look; God will requite blessing in place of cursing;
16:18 Nay but whom the Lord, and this people, and all the men of ISrael choose, his will I be, and with him will I abide. God chooses, not men;
Chapter 17
17:14 vFor the Lord had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the Lord might bring evil upon Absalom. God appointed defeat to counsel; God would bring evil/destruction upon Absalom.
Chapter 18
18:19 how that the Lord hath avenged him of his enemies God avenges His Own against his enemies;
18:28 Blessed be the Lord thy God, which hath delivered up the men that lifted up their hand against my lord the king. God is blessed and imparts blessings; God delivered enemy up into their hand for victory;
18:31 for the Lord hath avenged thee this day of all them that rose up against thee God avenges His Own against those that rise up against them;
18:33 Would God I had died for thee God causes and allows death, and for whom it is determined;
Chapter 19
19:7 for I swear by the Lord, if thou go not forth, there will not tarry one with thee this night God's Name and person is sworn by Joab as a certainty; which thing should not be done; \
19:13 God do so to me, and more also, if thou be not captain of the host before me continually God will do that which is right and certain, David uses it as a means of certianty as God is certain to do it;
19:21 because he cursed the Lord's anointed God's anointed not to be cursed;
19:27 but my lord the king is as an angel of God God's angels;
Chapter 20
20:19 why wilt thou swallow up the inheritance of the Lord? God's inheritance in His people, cities and land;
Chapter 21
21:1 and David enquired of the Lord. And the Lord answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites. God allows, sees and hears those of His' that enquire of Him; And God said/spoke; God answers him to why the famine; Omniscient;
21:3 that ye may bless the inheritance of the Lord? God's inheritance of His people and the land;
21:6 and we will hang them up unto the Lord. . . whom the Lord did choose God shall see and know of those that shall be hanged up unto Him for these sin; God chooses;
21:7 because of the Lord's oath that was between them God heard, knew and saw the covenant between Jonathan and David before the Lord;
21:9 they hanged them in the hill before the Lord God saw and knew of those that were hanged to appease the sin of Saul;
21:14 And after that God was intreated for the land. God intreated for correction of sin for the land of the blood that was shed by Saul;
Chapter 22
22:1 And David spake unto the Lord the words of this song in the day that the Lord had delivered him out of the hand fo all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul. God hears and knows the words and thoughts of His servants unto Him; God delivered David out of enemies and Saul's hands;
22:2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer. God is sure foundation of rock and fortress; God is protector and deliverer;
22:3 The God of my rock in Him will I trust; He is my shield and the horn of my slavation, my high tower, and my refuge, my Saviour, Thou savest me from violence God is David's rock and He is worthy and able to be trusted in; God is a shield and horn of salvation; God saves physically and spiritually; God is high tower, refuge; God saves from the violent ones;
22:4 I will call on the Lord, Who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies. God hears the call of His children; God is worthy to be praised; God is able to save from enemies;
22:7 In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God: and He did hear my voice out of His temple, and my cry did enter into His ears. God hears and knows the needs and cries of His children; God heard his voice, in HIs temple; God's ears hear all; Omniscient; Omnipotent;
22:8 because He was wroth God was angry and His wrath shook the heavens and the earth;
22:9 There went up a smoke out of His nostrils, and fire out of His mouth devoured God's anger manifested in smoke out of nostrils and fire out of His mouth; Allegory of physical & spiritual;
22:10 He bowed the heavens also, and came down; and darkness was under His feet. God bowed the heavens; God came down to earth; God's feet had darkness under them;
22:11 And He rode upon a cherub, and did fly; and He was seen upon the wings of the wind. God rode upon an angel and flew; God was seen as the wind flying;
22:12 And He made darkness pavilions round about Him, dark waters, and thick clouds of the skies God made darkness around Him;
22:13 Through the brightness before Him were coals of fire kindled. God made coals of fire to be kindled before Him to consume;
22:14 The Lord thundered from heaven and the most High uttered His voice. God thunders from heaven, His voice; God's voice spoke, uttered;
22:15 And He sent out arrows, and scattered them; lighting, and discomfited them. God's arrows are sent to scatter the enemy; God send lighting to discomfit them;
22:16 at the rebuking of the Lord, at the blast of the breath of His nostrils. God rebuikes; God's blast of His nostrils;
22:17 He sent from above, He took me; He drew me out of many waters; God sends for His man; God took him; God drew Him out of many waters of trouble;
22:18 He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me. God delivers from our enemies, from them that hate us; God knows those that are too strong for us and helps us;
22:19 but the Lord was my stay God was His stay in the time of trouble and difficulty;
22:20 He brought me forth also into a large place, He delivered me, because He delighted in me. God brought him into a large place for safety; God delivered him; God delighted in him;
22:21 the Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness: according to the cleanness of my hands hath He recompensed me. God rewards the righteous; God knows those that have clean hands or don't; God recompenses according to deeds;
22:22 For I have kept the ways of the Lord and have not wickedly departed from my God. God's ways are to be kept and obeyed; God is not to be wickedly departed from;
22:23 For all His judgments were before me: and as for His statutes, I did not depart from them God's judgments are before; God's statutes are not to be departed from;
22:24 I was also upright before Him, and have kept myself from mine iniquity. God knows and sees those that are upright before Him; God knows and sees those that keep themselves from sin and those that give place to it;
22:25 Therefore the Lord hath recompensed me according to My righteousness; according to my cleanness in His eye sight. God recompenses a man according to his righteousness in His sight; God sees those that are clean and those that are not;
22:26 With the merciful Thou wilt shew Thyself merciful, and with the upright man Thou wilt shew Thyself upright. God shows mercy and is mercy; God is upright and extends to those that He knows are;
22:27 With the pure Thou wilt shew Thyself pure; and with the froward Thou wilt shew Thyself unsavoury. God is purse and shows Himself pure to those that are; God knows those that are unsavour, evil and will show Himself froward to such;
22:28 And the afflicted people Thou wilt save: but Thine eyes are upon the haughty, that Thou mayest bring them down. God saves the afflicted people; God's eyes sees the proud; God brings down the proud;
22:29 For Thou art my lamp, O Lord: and the Lord will lighten my darkness. God is light to those that receives Him; I will's of God to lighten the darkness;
22:30 For by Thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall. God empowers to run through a troop; God enables to leap over a wall;
22:31 As for God, His ways is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried: He is a buckler to all them that trust in Him. God's ways are perfect; And God said/spoke; God's word is true and tested; God is a buckler to those that trust in Him;
22:32 For who is God, save the Lord? and who is a rock, save our God? God is Lord God; God is a rock;
22:33 God is my strength and power: and He maketh my way perfect. God is strength and power; God makes men's ways perfect;
22:34 He maketh my feet like hinds' feet: and setteth me upon my high places. God makes mens feet to run well; God sets men upon high places for safety;
22:35 He teacheth my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms. God teaches men and gives ability to war a good warfare;
22:36 Thou hast also given me the shield of Thy salvation: and Thy gentleness hath made me great. God gives salvation as a shield of protection and delivereance, physically and spiritually; God's gentleness makes me great for His purpose;
22:37 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me; so that my feet did not slip. God gives sure steps and footing in this life; God enlarges;
22:40 Thou hast girded me with strength to battle: them that rose up against me hast Thou subdued under me. God gives strength physical/spiritaul to win battle; God subdues enemeis before His people;
22:41 Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me. God gives enemy into our hands for victory;
22:42 even unto the Lord, but He answered them not. God sees, hears and knows all, but God refused to answer them;
22:44 Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people, Thou hast kept me to be head of the heathen God delivers from peoples striving against him; God keeps to be head over heathen;
22:47 the Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation. God is alive and liveth forever; God is a rock and to be blessed; God is to be exalted and lifted up for being rock of salvation;
22:48 It is God that avengeth me, and that bringeth down the people under me God avenges His Own; God brings down people from under His servants;
22:49 And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: Thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: Thou hast delivered me from the violent men. God brings us forth from our enemies; God lifts us up above those that come against us; God d3elivers from violent men;
22:50 I will give thanks unto Thee, O Lrod, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto Thy Name. God receives the thanksgiving of His people and it is declared among all; God hears and receives the praise unto His great Name;
22:51 He is the tower of salvation for His king: and sheweth mercy to His anointed, unto David, and to his seed for evermore. God is the means of salvation for His chosen king; God is mercy to His anointed, to David and to his seed for ever;
Chapter 23
23:1 the anointed of the God of Jacob God anoints His chosen man, like David;
23:2 the Spirit of the Lord spake by me, and His Word was in my tongue And God said/spoke; God puts His Word on tongue of His servants to be proclaimed;
23:3 The God of Israel said, the Rock of ISrael spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God. And God said/spoke (2); God is God of Israel, God is Rock of Israel; God declared that men that rule must be just; the fear of the Lord;
23:5 Although my house be not so with God, yet He hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure; although He make it not ot grow God knows those that are right with Him and those that are not; God makes everlasting covenant with His chosen; God orders all things and sure; God is able to make it grow and be right or not;
23:10 and the Lord wrought a great victory that day God brings and works a great victory;
23:12 and the Lord wrought a great victory God works and causes a great victory;
23:16 but poured it out unto the Lord God sees and receives fast, sacrifice unto Himself from His servants;
23:17 Be it far from O Lord that I should do this God hears and sees the actions of David in pouring out water for their sacrifice unto the Lord;
Chapter 24
24:1 And again the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and He moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah. God's anger was kindled against Israel; God moved - not sure this is God's activity, as in another passage that it was Satan that tempted David to number the people;
24:3 Now the Lord thy God add unto the people, how many soever they be, an hundrefold, and that the eyes of my lord the king may see it God adds/removes people to number;
24:10 And David said unto the Lord, I have sinned greatly in that I have done and now, I beseech Thee, O Lord take away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly. God hears and knows and sees the contrite heart and voice of the penitent and his cry acknowledging his sin;
24:11 the Word of the Lord came unto the prophet Gad, David's seer, saying, And God said/spoke to His prophet to speak to David;
24:12 Go and say unto David, Thus saith the Lord, I offer thee three things, choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee. and God said/spoke; God gives directive to David of 3 choices for judgement/punishment; God will do it unto him for his sin;
24:13 and see what answer I shall return to Him that sent me. God sent him to get an answer to his 3 choices;
24:14 I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the Lord; for His mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man. God's hand to fall into and not into man's hands for his decision; God's mercies are great;
24:15 So the Lord sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed: and there died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba seventy thousand men. God sends pestilence upon them; God slew 70,000 men;
24:16 And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the Lord repented him of the evil and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the Lord was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite. God's angels was sent to destroy, stretched out his arm over Jerusalem to destroy ; God repented of this evil toward them; And God said/spoke; God directs to 'stay now thine hand'; God's angel;
24:17 And David spake unto the Lord when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly but these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray Thee, be against me and against my father's house. God hears and knows His servants prayers and heart cries; God's angel; God knows those that have sinned and done wickedly against him;
24:18 Go up and rear an altar unto the Lord in the threshingfloor of Araunah the Jebusite. God sends His prophet to direct David to rear an altar unto Himself in the specific place;
24:19 went up as the Lord commanded the Lord commanded;
24:21 to build an altar unto the Lord that the plague may be stayed from the people God directs for an altar to be buildt unto Himself that the plague may be stopped; Divine place of the temple to be built;
24:23 And Araunah said unto the king, The Lord thy God accept thee. God accepts those that are His' and He knows who they are;
24:24 neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the Lord my God of that which doth cost me nothing. God receives burnt offerings that has rightly been given, prepared and offered;
24:25 And David built there an altar unto the Lord and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the Lord was intreated for the land, and the plague was stayed form Israel. God sees and knows His servants that build Him an altar to offer burnt offerings and peace offerings; God is intreated with this from David for the land and for the people; God stayed the plague;
