Greetings,
As I have been focused primarily with documenting all the Names, attributes and activities of God in the Bible, it has led me to see Satan's as well. Paul wrote in Corinthians that we are not ignorant of his devices. But I would contest, that we have a two-fold sin in the church of ignorance; we don't know who God is; nor do we know our enemy and his activity. I fear too many fall prey to Satan's activity for this reason of not recognizing that it is him and what his intent is. There are several passages of Scripture that will help us in this understanding. It is not only to know it, but to counter it and pray toward the demise of his evil intent. To follow then is a Scripture, followed by its implications on this topic and then a directive to pray towards its end.
1. Esther 3:13, "And the letters were sent by posts into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day. . . to take the spoil of them for a prey."
Jesus referenced the same similarity of words, 'the thief cometh but to steal, kill and destroy. . . 'This activity of evil is generated with Satan. And we see it used here in Esther in description of Haman's activity against all the Jews. Now his personal vendetta was against on man, Mordecai, a Jew. And when he found out that he was a Jew, he turned against all JEws. How like Satan to seek to destroy, not just one, but the whole. Satan's attack against Eve in the garden was not the one, but the whole of humanity. He may attack one, but know his agenda is the whole.
2. Job 1:5 - 12; 2:1 - 6
1:6, "Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them." 2:1 - same;
Satan must come and appear before the Lord. He is free to wander through the cosmos and the earth, but he must present himself before the Lord and give an answer to the Lord. He is subject to God.
1:7 "And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it." 2:2 - same;
God ask a question that He already knows of Satan.
