THE ACTIVITY OF GOD IN THE BIBLE - II KINGS

The Activity of God

Going through the Bible, book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse, phrase by phrase and word by word to give attention to the following:
--the Names of God;
--the word & deeds of God;
--the sayings of God;
--the attributes of God;

Too often the churches weakness and the Christians weakness is found in this one sin, 'we do not know God'.  We have not studied the Bible, nor Him to learn more of Him.  Seeking that this might be a help for myself and others in this pursuit that each of us 'may grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord.'

17:2     And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord    God sees and knows when men do evil before Him;   God sees;
17:7     that the children of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Eygpt, and feared other gods,     God sees and knows when His people sin against Him;   God brought them up out of Egypt;  God delivered them from Pharaoh;   God sees and knows when His people do not fear Him, but fear other gods;
17:8     whom the Lord cast out from before the children of ISrael, which they had made     God cast out heathen from before Israel;   God sees and knows when His people made false gods to replace Him;
17:9     And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the Lord their God, and they built them high places in all their cities     God sees and knows those things done in secret against Him;   God sees and knows those that done right or not right in His sight;   God sees and knows when His people built high places to worship false gods against Him in the land He gave them;
17:11     they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the Lrod carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the Lord to anger.     God sees and knows the rebellion of His children in burning incense to false gods;   God carried away heathen from before them;   God is provoked to anger for doing wicked things in His sight;
17:12     For they served idols, whereof the Lord had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.    And God said/spoke;    God saw and knew they served false idols;   God spoke directive to not do this thing;
17:13     Yet the Lord testified against Israel, and against Judah by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep My commandments and My statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by My servants the prophets.    And God said/spoke;   God gave directive to not do such evil, but to keep His commands, statutes and law;   the Lord commanded;   God sent to them His Word by His prophets;
17:14     that did nto believe in the Lord their God     God knows those hear and believe and those that do not;
17:15    And they rejected His statutes and His covenant that He made with their fathers, and His testimonies which He testified against them; . . . concerning whom the Lord had charged them, that they should not do like them.    God knows those that reject His statutes and break His covenant;  God made with their fathers;   God testified against them;   God charged them not do like them;
17:16     And they left all the commandments of the Lord their God  God knows those that forget, forsake and leave His commands;
17:17     sole themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord to provoke Him to anger     God sees and knows those that do evil in His sight;   God is prvoked to anger for their sin;
17:18     Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel and removed them out of His sight     God was very angry for their evil;   God removed them from His sight;  God sees and hides them from His sight;
17:19     Also Judah kept not the commandments of the Lord their God    God sees and knows those that do not keep His commands;
17:20    And the Lord rejected all the seed of Israel and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoielrs until He had cast them out of His sight.    God rejects seed of Issrael for their continual sin;   God afflicts them;   God delivers them into hand of enemy to spoil them;   God casts them out of His sight;
17:21     For He rent Israel from the house of David. . . Jeroboam drave Israel from following the Lord and made them sin a great sin     God rent kingdom from David's house;   God sees and knows those that cause them cease following His ways;   God sees and knows the sin that leads to great sins against Him;
17:23     Until the Lord removed Israel out of His sight, as He had said by all His servants the prophets    God removes Israel from His sight for their great evil;   And God said/spoke;   God's prophets and servants warned God's Word to God's people;
17:25     that they feared not the Lord:  therefore the Lord sent lions among them, which slew some of them.    the fear of the Lord;   God knows those that fear Him and those that do not;   God send lions to punish them for their sin;
17:26    know not the manner of the God of the land:  therefore He hath sent lions among them, and behold, they slay them because they know not the manner of the God of the land.    God's manner and ways to be known;   God sent lions to punish them and slay them;  God's land and manner to be observed;
17:27     let him teach them the manner of the God of the land    God's manner to be taught by priest to people of the land;
17:28    taught them how they should fear the Lord    the fear of the Lord;   God's manner and way to be taught them how to live;
17:32     So they feared the Lord and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places     the fear of the Lord;   God is feared halfheartedly, for they also served their idols at the same time;
17:33     They feared the Lord and served their own gods    the fear of the Lord;   God was feared halfheartedly at the same time they worshipped idols;
17:34     they fear not the Lord neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the Lord commanded the children of Jacob, whom He named Israel.    the fear of the Lord;   the Lord commanded;   God named Jacob, Israel;   God's was are not adhered too;
17:36     But the Lord Who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, Him shall ye fear and Him shall ye worship and to Him shall ye do sacrifice.    God brought them up out of Egypt;   God's power and streched out arm did many mighty works;   the fear of the Lord;   God to be worshipped and sacrificed to and none else;
17:37     which He wrote for you ye shall observe to do for evermore;   God wrote commands, laws and ways to be obeyed always by His people;
17:38     And the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget neither shall ye fear other gods.    God's covenant to be kept;  God made it with Israel and not to be forgotten;   fear the Lord only;
17:39     But the Lord your God ye shall fear;  and He shall deliver you out of the hand of all yout enemies.    the fear of the Lord;   God delivers you out of hand of enemy;
17:41     So these nations feared the Lord and served their graven images     the fear of the Lord;  God was feared halfheartedly at the same time they feared idols;
Chapter 18
18:3     and he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord according to all that David his father did.    God sees and knows those that do right in His sight and ways;   God sees;
18:5     He trusted in the Lord God of Israel    God was God of Israel and He is to be trusted in by His servants;
18:6    He clave to the Lord and departed not from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the Lord commanded Moses.    God is to be cleave too;   the Lord commanded;   God departed not from, God's command kept;    God commanded Moses;
18:7     And the Lord was with him; and he prospered withersoever he went forth    God is with His faithful ones;  God makes ways to prosper;
18:12     Because they obeyed not the voice of the Lord their God, but transgressed His covenant, and all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded    God speaks, but His voice is not obeyed by His people;   God's commands are transgressed against and disobeyed;  God's servant Moses   the Lord commanded;
18:15    the silver that was found in the house of the Lord   God's house, God's treasures taken;
18:16    cut off the gold from the doors of the temple fo the Lord and from the pillars   God's temple and gold taken;
18:22    We trust in the Lord our God:  is not that He, whose high places and hwose altars Hezekiah hath taken away and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?      God is to be trust in and obeyed;   God's altars to be worshipped at and none other;
18:25     Am I now come up without the Lord against this place to destroy it?  The Lord said to me, Go up against this land and destroy it.    And God said/spoke;    God come to destroy land for sin and folly;   God gave directive to destroy it;
18:30     Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord saying, The Lord will surely deliver us    God is to be trusted in;   I will's of God to deliver from enemy and out of their hand;
18:32    The Lord will deliver us.    I will's of God to deliver them from enemy;
18:35    that the Lord should deliver Jeruslaem out of mine hand?    God is able to deliver city out of his hand;
Chapter 19
19:1     covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the Lord.    God's house, God approached with sackcloth and humbleness;
19:4    It may be the Lord thy God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh,. . . hath sent to reproach the living God;   and will reprove the words which the Lord thy God hath heard     God does hear the words utter by men, especially those against Him;   God knows, sees and hears those that would reproach the living God;   God is the living God;   I will's of God to reprove the fool that speaks against the Lord;   God hears;
19:6    thus saith the Lord, Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servant of the king of Assyria have blasphemed Me.    And God said/spoke;   God gives directive to not be afraid of words against them;   God hears and knows those that have blasphemed Him;
19:7    Behold I will send a blast upon him . . . I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.    I will's of God to send destruction against Him;  I will's of God to cause him to fall in his own land;
19:10    Let not thy God in whom thou trustest deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered in the hand of the king of Assyria;   God is to be trusted in;
19:14     And Hezekiah went up into the house of the Lord, and spread it before the Lord    God's house;  God approached and letter spread before Him;   God sees and knows all things;
19:15     And Hezekiah prayed before the Lord and said, O Lord God of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims Thou art the God, even Thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; Thou hast made heaven and earth.           God hears and knows the prayers of His children;   God dwells between the cherubims (on the ark);   God is God and He alone is God of all kingdoms of earth;  God made heaven and earth;
19:17     Of a truth Lord     God knows the truth and is the truth and knows what men have done;
19:19     Now therefore, O Lord our God, I beseech Thee, save Thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdosms of the earth may know that Thou art the Lord God, even Thou only.     God is sought and called upon;   God is able to save them out of the hands of men;   God is to be known in all kingdoms that He is God alone;
19:20     Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, That which thou hast prayed to Me against Sennacherib I have heard.    and God said/spoke;   God hears the prayers of His servants;
19:21     This is the word that the Lord hath spoken concerning him    And God said/spoke;  God speaks against king of Assyria for his blasphemy of the Lord;
19:22     Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed?  and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high?  even against the Holy One of Israel.    God calls him into account for Whom he has spoken against;    God is the Holy One of Israel;   God has heard his mockery and calls him into account;
19:23     By thy messengers thou has reproached the Lord and hast said    God has heard their words of reproach against Him and His people;   God hears and sees;
19:27     But I know thy abode, and thy going out and thy coming in, and thy rage against Me.   God knows the ways of men;   God knows their going out and their coming in;   God knows their rage against Him; for they are of Satan, the Lord's enemy;
19:28     Because thy rage against Me and thy tumult is come up into Mine ears, therefore I will put My hook in thy nose, and My bridle in thy lips and I iwll turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.    God has heard his rage against Him;   I will's of God to put His hook in his nose, His bridle in his lips;  I will's of God to turn him back from which he came;   God knows and sees the  ways and paths from which they came and returns them to their demise;

20:3    O Lord, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in Thy sight.    And Hezekiah wept sore.   God remembers and knows how men walk whether they do so with a perfect heart or not;   God sees whether men do right in His sight;   God sees and knows cause of his tears;
20;4     that the word of the Lord came to him, saying,     And God said/spoke;   God's word comes to God's man;

Chapter 21
21:2     And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord after the abominations of the heathen whom the Lord cast out before the children of Israel.    God sees and knows the evil that men do before HIm;  God cast the heathen out from before Israel;  God's sight;
21:4     And he built altars in the house of the Lord, of which the Lord said, In Jerusalem will I put My Name.    God's house to be pure and holy, not with false altars;   And God said/spoke;  I will's of God to put His Name there;  God's puts His Name upon a place and people;
21:5    in the two courts of the house of the Lord    God's house defiled by false altars;
21:6    he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the Lord to provoke Him to anger     God sees and knows of the wickedness of men that is done before Him;   God is provoked to anger with their evil;
21:7    of which the Lord said to David . . . which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel will I put My Name for ever.    And God said/spoke;   God said to David the promise of the covenant;   God chose Jerusalem out of all places;   I will's of God to put His Name there for ever;
21:8    Neither will I make the feet of Israel move any more out of th eland which I gave their fathers:  only if they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that My servant Moses commanded them.     I will's of God to not make them move any more if they obeyed Him;   God gave the land to their fathers;   the Lord commanded;   God's servant Moses that he commanded them the law;
21:9    whom the Lord destroyed before the children of Israel     God destroyed heathen from before Israel;
21:10    And the Lord spake by His servants the prophets, saying,    and God said/.spoke;   God's prophets and servants;
21:11    God declares how wicked Manasseh's actions have been;
21:12    Therefore thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah     And God said/spoke;    God brings evil upon Jerusalem;   I Am;
21:13     I will stretch over Jerusalem the line. . . I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipeth a dish, wiping it, and turning it upside down.     I will's of God to stretch line over JErusalem for judgement;   I will's of God to wipe Jerusalem clean of men and evil;
21:14     And I will forsake the remnant of Mine inheritance, and deliver them into the hand of their enemies, and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies.     I will's of God to forsake remnant;  God's inheritance forsaken and delivered into hand of enemy;
21:15     Because they have done that which was evil in My sight and have provoked Me to anger, since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt, even unto this day.    God sees the evil that they have done;   God's sight;   God is provoked to anger ;   God has seen them and been with them since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt;   Omnipresent; Omniscient;
21:16     in doing that which was evil in the sight of the Lord     God's sight;  God sees and knows the evil of men and what they do;
21:20     And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord as his father Manasseh did.    God sees and knows the evil that men do;   God's sight;
21:22     And he forsook the Lord God of his fathers and walked not in the way of the Lord.    God is forsaken;  God's way is not walked in;   God see and knows those that forsake Him and walk not in His way;
Chapter 22
22:2     And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord and walked in all the way of David his father and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.    God sees and knows those that do right in His sight;  God's sight;
22:3     to the house of the Lord     God's house;
22:4     sum the silver which is brought into the house of the Lord    God's house collects tithes of th people;
22:5    that have oversight of the house of the Lord :  and let them give it to the doers of the work which is in the house of the Lord      God's house (2);
22:8     I have found the book of the law in the house of the Lord    God's house; God's law/word;
22:9    have oversight of the house of the Lord    God's house;
22:13     Go ye, enquire of the Lord for me and for the people and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found for great is the wrath of the Lord  that is kindled against us    God is to be enquired of;    God's wrath is kindled against them for their sin;

22:16     Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place     And God said/spoke;    I will's of God to bring evil upon wicked place;
22:17     Because they have forsaken Me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke Me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore My wrath shall be kindled against this place and shall not be quenched.    God is forsaken; God sees and knows of their idolatry in burning incense to idols;  God is provoked to anger;   God's wrath waxes hot, kindled against them to destroy them;   God utters that it shall not be quenched;
22:18   But to the king of Judah which sent you to enquire of the Lord, thus shall ye say to him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, As touching the words which thou hast heard;     And God said/spoke;    God is enquired of rightly;  God directs word to be given to king;
22:19     Because thine heart was tender and thou hast humbled thyself before the Lord, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, taht they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before Me; I also have heard thee, saith the Lord.     God knows the intent of the heart and humbleness before the Lord;   and God said/spoke (2);   God knows what was heard and response;   God sees clothes rent, sees tears before Him;   God heard his prayer and cry;
22:20      Behold, therefore, I will gather thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered into thy grave in peace:  and thine eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place    I will's of God to gather Josiah to death before judgement;   God foretells death;   I will's of God to bring evil upon that place and Josaih will not see it;

23:12     had made in the two courts of the house of the Lord     God's house defiled by false altars in courts of His house;
23:16     according to the word of the Lord which the man of God proclaimed     And God said/spoke;  God's man proclaimed God's Word and it came to pass as God said;
23:17    It is the sepulchre of the man of God     God's man who proclaimed God's Word;
23:19     had made to provoke the Lord to anger    God is provoked to anger;
23:21     Keep the passover unto the Lord your God    God's passover to be kept;
23:23    wherein this passover was holden to the Lord in Jerusalem;    God's passover held before Him and to Him;
23:24    found in the house of the Lord    God's house were book of law was found;
23:25    And like unto him was there no king before him that turned to the Lord with all his heart and with all his souls and with all his might. . . neither after him arose there any like him.    God knows those that turn to Him with all the heart, soul and might;   God knows before and after if there be any like them;
23:26      Notwithstanding the Lord turned not from the fierceness of His great wrath, wherewith His anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked Him withal.     God would not turn;   God's great wrath for their great sin;   God's anger was kindled against His people because of all their provocations;   God was provoked withal by manasshe and his evil;
23:27     And the Lord said, I will remove Judah also out of My sight, as I have removed Israel and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My Name shall be there.      And God said/spoke (2);  I will's of God to remove Judah out of His sight;   I will's of God to cast off this city Jerusalem for their evil;   God chose them;    God's Name shall be there;
23:32     And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord    God sees and knows men that do evil;   God's sight;
23:37     And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord     God sees and knows men that do evil;   God's sight;
Chapter 24
24:2     And the Lord sent against him bands of the Chaldees, Syrians, Moabites, Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the Lord, which He spake by His servants the prophets.    God sends enemies against His people for their great sin;   And God said/spoke;   God's servants the prophets;
24:3     Surely at the commandment of the Lord came this upon Judah, to remove them out of His sight, for the evil of Manasseh, according to all the he did.    the Lord commanded;    God allowed and sent them upon them to remove them out of His sight for the sins of Manasseh;   God's sight saw the evil of Manasseh;
24:4     for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; which the Lord would not pardon.    God would not pardon blood shed by Manasseh that filled Jerusalem;  God saw it and blood cries out to Him for justice;
24:9     And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord     God sees and knows the evil that men do in His sight;   God's sight;
24:13      all the treasures of the house of the Lord. . . in the temple of the Lord, as the Lord had said;    God's house and temple, stripped of gold and treasures;   And God said/spoke;
24:19     And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord    God sees and knows the evil that men do in His sight;  God's sight;
