JUDGEMENT - SINS OF THE ONE AFFECTING OTHERS

Greetings,

One of the things that is lightly discussed and largely unknown is the judgement of God here and now, and that which is to come.   Final judgement determines the destination of the soul.   Great, white judgement seat will judge the works of the saint and the sinner.   For the saint, it is not a matter of their salvation and eternity in the new heaven and the new earth.   but it is the bestowing, gaining of rewards or loss of rewards due directly to their works.    For the sinner, the horrors of hell and punishment therein shall all be cast into the lake of fire and there with SAtan and his angels for evermore.   Absence of God and any hope removed for ever is punishment enough;  I know not that there will or can be greater punishment and wrath in hell.

But as coming through Bible in readings and studies, there is a constant listing and finding of judgement on God's children.   This is not dealing with the lost soul, but more so, the one who professes their service to God.   Some of these judgements are needed to set before us as a warning first, and then a directive to confess, repent, and do our first works of the Savior.

One of the things that bothers me most about myself and found within the church, is the 'lightly esteemed' reactions with sin and about sin.   'The wages of sin is death'.  Much of the church has forgotten that Scripture and truth.   We hear too many excuses of those in sin or allowing of sin.   They cling to 'God loves sinners' and neglect, reject 'God condemns sinners to hell'.   There are high consequences of sin that seems it takes us the hard way to learn these truths.

Thus, as I come through Scriptures I see how wide spread these men in the bible sinned, and then how far reaching the impact went to those around them.   A very painful and sorrowful lesson to learn and glean.   But one that is much needed that we cease playing with sin and think there are no consequences to be reaped.

ACHAN

Joshua 7:1, "But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing:  For Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing:  and the anger of the Lord was kindled against the children of Israel.

7:21, "When I saw among the spoils. . . .then I coveted them; and behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it."

The Sin:   God had charged Joshua and the people as they came against Jericho, not to take or touch any of its possessions.   All was to be consecrated to the Lord of the metals and precious stones.   they were to keep themselves from "the accursed thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it." (Joshua 6:18   As Achan confessed, he saw, he coveted, he took and touched the accursed thing and hid it within his tent.

ASA

II Chronicles 16:7 - 9, "Because thou hast relied ont he king of Syria, and not relied on the Lord thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand.   Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge hosts, with very many chariots and horsemen?  yet, because thou didst rely on the Lord, He delivered them into thine hand. . . .Herein thou hast done foolishly:  therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars. . . . And Asa in the thrity and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great:  yet in this disease he sought not to the Lord, but to the physicians."

The Sin:     Asa had been given decades of peace and safety.   EArly on a huge army out of Africa came against him but he turned to the Lord and the Lord delivered them.   Yet, in his latter years, 30 years of reigning the next confortation comes in his 35th year as king.   Yet, in this he turned and trusted in man rather than God.   And when he was diseases in his feet in the latter years of his life, he was still angry at God and turned to doctors rather than the Lord.   And also attacked and imprisoned the prophet that declared he would have war for not relying on the Lord.

The Impact:   Treasures from the Lord's house was removed to buy off the Syrians and have them attack Israel.    Asa was so angry at the prophets words that he put him in prison.  It says that he oppressed some of the people at that time.  This was more of a personal impact, than the others that we have seen as generational and wide reaching.   Yet, his choices to sin against the Lord carry with it a huge lesson to be learned in the defiance against the Lord.   For sin and the impending response of God to judge us is sent as a work of mercy to cause us to come back to Him.   Yet, for Asa, he did not repent, nor confess, but hardened himself and wen tfurther away from the Lord.

It is the progression of such actions that teaches me the most.   For instead of sin breaking us before Him and restoring our relationship with Him, they go further away.   Its end result is not sensible or logical.   Yet, how many are seen here in their response back to God.   They harden them selves and dive deeper into greater sin.   Their last end is worse than their beginning.

JEHOSHAPHAT
II Chronicles 18:1, "Now Jhoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, and joined affinity with Ahab."
19:1, "And Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned to his house in peace to Jerusalem.  And Jehu the seer went out ot meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that lhate the Lord?  therefore is wrath upon thee from before the Lord.
