MAY PRAYER TARGETS - 2016

May, 2016

"But I give myself unto prayer" - Psalm 109:4

 Greetings,
Four months are completing now for our year, 1/3 of it is gone.  How goes it in your prayer times? in your walk with the Lord?  Are you able to say, 'All is well?'  Or are you finding yourself behind, losing ground? Let us turn to the Lord and seek Him while He may be found.  Let us use May as a moment to dig deeper, reap richer and grow in grace and knowledge of Him.

The last several months that I have wrote to encourage prayer targets, I have listed themes to bring before the Lord  Themes that covered our world, nation, state, cities, churches, homes and our own hearts.  Last month, I gave you 3 specific targets of prayer that focused on Worship unto the Lord - Confession of Sins against the Lord - and supplications unto the Lord

For this month let us consider the depth of our praying in our secret closets, family prayer times and corporate church prayer meetings.

In revivals, in days gone by, there was a level of desperation in prayer meetings.  Somebody prevailed in prayer during these prayer times.  It is usually only a few individuals, or a small group; but their level of praying is intense and dogmatic.  The difference in most praying in church and Christians lives is they 'say prayer' or 'pray prayers'; but in revival they pray with urgency, fervency and emergency zeal.

EMERGENCY - URGENCY - FERVENCY

"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." - James 5:16

"And he prayer more earnestly" - James 5:17

"And when he dropped dead. . Ah Lord God will you consume all the remnant?" Ezekiel 11:13

"And Jehoshaphat cried out and the Lord helped hi; and God moved the to depart from him." II Chronicles 18:31

"And the father of the child cried out, and said with tears Lord I believe; help thou mine unbelief." - Mark 9:24

Causes that should provoke us to this level of praying:

--satan is destroying our families and homes;
--churches are languishing and in desperate need of the power of God;
--the harvest is minimal and fruit is desperately low;
--answered prayers among the body of Christ is shockingly low;
--drugs are spreading across our nation and communities as the 'death angel' on that night in Egypt where all the first born died;
--elections are this year; and will set the course of our nation for final judgment or an act of mercy by God;
--continued agenda of LGBT is gaining ground;  they will not cease, there is no retreat but a continual barrage to accomplish their purpose;
--the next generation growing up without any knowledge of the Lord;

These actions and reactions happening in our day, should reveal to us the 'handwriting on the wall' for our future.  Without a proper response by the church of emergency, urgency and fervency all will be lost.  The days of being idle or hoping it will all go away is over.  This is for the sake of our future in our day, our children's day and our grandchildren.  When life is desperate it will pray with more zeal.  Without desperation prayer will continue to be the same.

Specific Prayer Requests through May:
--National Day of Prayer;  be a part of this in your area, church life or in Charleston;  May 5;
--SBC convention Tuesday night, a night of prayer;
--restraining prayer against evil in our state;
--prevailing prayer for lost souls and a harvest;
--preventive prayers for Memorial day at the end of the month;  due to the extended holiday for Memorial day there is much sin of alcohol, drugs and foolish choices;  this, over the last years, as always led to tragedies of death and heartache;  prayers in advance can fight for Satan not to have his will done, but our Lord's;

If I can be of service to lead, teach or help on prayer, please feel free to contact me.

until,
