PRAYING THE "H's" - I Kings 8

Praying the H's

Greetings,
Reading through the Scriptures we find truths that repeat themselves and truths that are only mentioned once.  Whether one or many times spoken and shared it is all truth that leads us unto His Holy throne.  Seeing things in Scripture to incorporate into our prayer life is needful to keep us ever mindful of Him and His ways.  We thank God when He reveals more ways, ways that are inexhaustible to better and enrich our prayer lives.

I have found singular words to be a prayer theme, regardless of where in the Scripture that one word is praying the will of God.  When there are several words in a short passage or spread abroad throughout the Scriptures it is still teaching and leading us to pray His Divine will for His Divine glory.  In the short passages of I Kings chapter 6 - 8 I found a repeated useage of words that began with the letter "H".   and in each one of these words was a directive to pray.

Now our focus has been for this year thus far, the 5 subjects, prayer targets:  FUTURE; NATION; CHURCH; FAMILY/HOME & PERSONAL/INDIVIDUAL.  Let us see these 5 "H" words and how to pray them over these 5 prayer targets.

The 5 "H" words:  HOLY; HEART; HOUSE; HEARKEN & HEAVEN

1.  HOLY
I Kings 7:50; 8:4, 6, 8, 10 - 'the HOLY place';
The number one priority of the Christian and the church is to be holy.  It is commanded by our Lord, 'be ye holy; for I am holy'.  And this holy place is what we are to strive for, obtain and maintain in our own lives, and for the body of Christ.  David prayed, 'Create in me,  a clean heart O God';  he desired to be holy.  Holiness means to be void of sin.  But I do not hear much of this among Christians today;  I do not hear it prayed for very often in the prayer meetings.  Satan distracts us from this pursuit that pleases God and is God-like.  Let us see the need and the responsibility for us to pray over the 5 targets this word and means of a 'holy place'.

Future - the year is before us;  its uncertainty for what shall be is certain.  We do not know what awaits, but the Lord does.  The Lord is Omnipresent and Omniscient and there is no secrets or uncertainty to Him, only to us.  Therefore we are to seek Him for 'what shall be', our future.  And in this future we are to seek His priority, His existence, yea, His name, 'Thou Who art called, HOLY'; we are to seek holiness for our future.   And this pursuit of holiness for our future will cover the other 4 areas of nation, church, family and personal heart.

The Prayer:  O, Holy God the Father, go before us in Your holiness.  Just as your glory Shekinah went before the children of Israel in cloudy pillar by day, and the fiery pillar by night, let Your glory go before leading us in all our ways.  and keep and  maintain this pleasing desire and attribute, as well as Your Name, in holiness.   Cover us and keep us holy, as You are holy  all our days, hours, minutes and moments this year and the years to come.  Let not any of our future be found without You, against you, or found worse yet, unholy.

Nation - recognize the truth about what we are and where we are;  Our nation is unholy.  Vile and sinful, provoking the Lord continually with our ways, laws, edicts, and choices, all of which are contrary to Him and His holiness.  Our nation, desperately close to 'be given over to a reprobate mind' is steam rolling toward annihilation for its unholy living.

Church - if any of these 5 prayer points are to be holy, this subject above all is to be, the Bride of Christ;  'Be ye holy; for I am holy';  unholy church constitutes the absence and fullness of the Holy Ghost.   His Word is holy; His Spirit and Presence is holy, the saved, redeemed people that have received His Word and Spirit are to be holy.   And when there is no holiness, there is an absence of these things to be found.  Something has replaced or restrained them.  The utter prayer becomes, 'Make Your people holy as You are holy.   Let them be void of sin, filled with Thee and holy in all their ways.'

Family/Homes - to the establishment which God ordained in marriage and children and family, we have all but utterly departed from that;  in fact today, it is almost impossible to find anything that bears resemblance to God's ordained, blessed family homes.   How much then is needed for family and homes to prayed over and be filled with holiness unto the Lord.

2.  HEART
I Kings 8:17 - 18; "And it was in the heart of David. . . Whereas it was in thine heart. . . thou didst well that it was in thy heart."

The heart, is such a needed subject of prayer.  And here in this great prayer and dialogue of Solomon, the heart of David is observed and spoken of.   The Lord commented on David's heart, 'a man after My Own heart'.  Oh, what a heart this is!  and the compliment of the Lord for David's heart, 'thou didst well that it was in thine heart.'   Herein is our priority to make sure our hearts and the hearts entrusted to us, in many of these other topics of house, church and nation, that their hearts are right in the sight of the Lord.

Future - the heart of men, as Jesus told us is wicked, desperately wicked;  Out of the heart proceeds great evils of our day.

Nation - the heart of the nation has not done well in a right heart after God;  But the nation has a heart after sin, and self.

Church - where is the heart of the church?  Is it wholeheartedly after the Lord?  Is it a divided heart?  Is it a heart that is aflame?  or found to cold and dormant?  luke warm?

Family - what is the hearts that are in the homes of today?  what do they rise up and go after?  what is their heart pursuit?  And again, the homes are broken, generally because of adultery, sin, wantonness of flesh and self.  Divided, priorities of entertainment and ease and money, all of which drives us away from God and full into the world.   Homes are so hurting and the affects are seen in the increase of broken homes, broken lives, broken marriages

3.  HOUSE

4.  HEARKEN/HEAR

5.  HEAVEN
