SBC - 2016

June, 2016

Greetings,
Deuteronomy 31:16 - 18, "And the Lord said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land whither they go to be among them, and will forsake Me, and break My covenant which I have made with them. v. 17 Then My anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide My face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us? v. 18 And I will surely hide My face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought . . . "

It has been 10 years since the Lord spoke and directed me to labor for my beloved brethren in the SBC to cry out to the Lord.  A simple directive from the Lord to my heart and I passed along to them, 'to a people of prayer'.  I watched in the 1970's the battle over what people we would be for eschatology.  I watched the great battles in the 1980's of whether we would be a 'people of the Book'.  Then to see the push most recently to be a people of the Great Commission.  All the while underlying was a battle over whether one was hyper- Calvinist, Calvinist or Arminian.

Now we come to this battle for our religious freedom, our nations future and the very means of opporutnity to 'finish the task'.  Evil is swallowing up our nation  Dead Christianity, a religious Pharisee practice is done in many churches each Sunday.  the Presence and the power of God is absent in our land.  And it is all directly related that while we was fighting to see and make ourselves to be this kind of people or that kind of people, a praying people was not to be named among us  I was raised up to be a voice to call us to prayer and to be a people of prayer   A work that began with many of our fathers of the faith that have taught, blest, helped and prayed for me.  Men like TW Hunt, Henry Blackaby, Don Miller to name a few, men of prayer and lives of witness to God's greatness and faithfulness.

1.  On Tuesday night for the second year in a row, time will be given to prayer.  President Ronnie Floyd has led for two years a consistent call for prayer to become priority again in our worship of the Lord.  I want to personally thank him for doing this and allowing for my desire and prayers to be answered to see this happen.

In 2010 I was instructed by the Lord to go to the sbc convention in Orlando and make a motion for the SBC convention to become a place of prayer.  Time and place to be given by my brethren during our short time together.  That motion was ruled out of order.  Some heard that motion and was moved, contacting me later and letting me know their hearts where there.  Ralph Suter, John Franklin was two that I remember from that day.  I had never ventured into the business of the convention session; nor did I look favorable upon this calling of the Lord upon me.  But I did it, I obeyed.

In 2012, the Lord spoke again, due to the crisis of our nation regarding same sex marriage to come before the Supreme Court.  I had foretold years before that this would come to pass and called the church to respond before it was too late.  It fell on deaf ears and was never engaged in for a serious time of prayer before the Lord that this not come to pass.  The motion was calling for a solemn assembly and to seek the Lord as a body.

IT was ruled out of order, although expression was made of leadership agreement with it

2.  Which bring us to present day of what may or could happen during these days ahead for SBC, the church as a whole in our nation and the future of our nation  For 10years that call for leadership, nationally, state, locally to be a people of prayer has been sounded.  Yet, we still see upwards of 80 - 90% of our churches that have no corporate prayer meetings during their monthly services.

3.  what do I want to see?
Above all I want to see brokenness and contrition.  A labor of sorrow before the Lord for what we have become.  the time lost, the calling that came but was generally unheeded.  A time where emphasis will made for racial reconciliation but we must also seek reconciliation with the Lord.  WE now live in a nation where this passage of Scripture is happening.
--v. 16 we as a nation, and many churches have forsaken the Lord;
--we and our fathers broke the covenant with Him; choosing rather humanism rather than Divine enduement;
--and because we have legalized the abominations in the Book, we have angered Him;  judgments are falling upon our land;  we are being consumed;
--He has forsaken us; He is hiding His face from us while we are being systematically being removed through record murder rates; murder-suicides rampant for years and escalating;  drug epidemic and overdose deaths multiplying.
