WE REAP WHAT WE SOW

"So Saul died for his transgression which he commiteed against the Lord, even against the word of the Lord, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it; v. 14, And enquired not of the Lord; therefore He slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse." I Chronicles 10:13-14
The soul that sinneth it shall die. The wages of sin is death. There is so much in the Scripture that verifies our eternity by the way we live daily. And each decision is either right in the sight of the Lord or evil in the sight of the Lord. It is pretty clear cut; isn't it? and so it is natural for us to be able to see that a life that sows in sin, produces fruit in sin. Here in these verses is King Saul who disobeyed the word of the Lord and reaped what he had sown- God slew him. The reality of this is before our lives that we reap what we sow.

It goes deeper than just our own lives. For if I practice sin and disobey the word of the Lord, not only should I expect to reap God's wrath; but I have sown into my children and the next generation the same sinful path. This is the danger of our every day life. If we don't obey the Lord, we teach our sons and daughters the same lifestyle and way. It is hard enough in this world to raise God fearing children, but let it not be said that they learned disobedience from us as parents. It is one thing for a child or Christian to go astray; it is quite another thing for them to have been taught disobedience of the Lord from His church and people.

In this portion of Scripture there is much for us to discern, learn and apply to prohibit the loss of our next generation. Saul knew right and wrong. He knew God and the ways of God. Yet, he chose to disobey those ways. And because of it, he died; 'the Lord slew him'. May you get that portion of Scripture in your heart and mind. All men die. The only two that didn't was Enoch and Elijah. Christ died, but was resurrected and ascended. But for all other flesh, 'It is appointed unto man to die, then the judgment'. All men die - yes; but how they die is the question here. Do they die in the Lord? or away from the Lord?
