Greetings,
"Is there not a cause?" - I Samuel 17:29
"to slay David without a cause?" - I Samuel 19:5
"plead my cause" - I Samuel 24:15
Scripture verses that draw immediate response to the spiritual soul are blessed for any Christian. The word/phrase study of 'Great Questions of the Bible' are such verses that require reflection and answer. "Is there not a cause" is one of those questions and verses. This is from David in regards to Goliath's threats and blasphemy against Israel and against the Lord God. A word study from this question is the word 'cause'. And following upon this question to address 'what is the cause?' 'how is the cause' and how it affects me and our future and the church. Lastly we see the response, 'plead my cause'. Word study - cause.
1. Is there not a cause? - I have used this numerous times before. I have preached it, stirred myself up in it; taught it and meditated much on it. IT is the question to be asked of us for our day. What is our cause? is there a cause to be sought? and one to be fought for? The 'cause' is much on my thoughts and prayers these days; the cause is eternity and our future as a nation and for the next generation. The cause to fight for something is of God's Name, His kingdom 'come and His will be done' is still our cause. The cause against something is Satan, sin and hell. Failure to engage with either prompts the response of David that we have lost the purpose and motive of our existence and meaning of being. The answer to this, is to be straight forward, from God's Word and directed by the Holy Ghost to keep us on the straight and narrow. To sit in vain conversation about man's agenda and will and ways causes us to lose our primary cause of God.
2. 'without a cause' - Jonathan is speaking to the evil of Saul to kill David. Jonathan lays out before Saul of the just deeds that David has done. And that there is no cause to kill David; it is 'without a cause'. We see the warnings in the bible of those that become luke-warm; to those that grow weary; to those that lose heart; to those that sink among carnal life and forget eternal life; to those that forget or become apathetic; and to all these they become a church, a nation, a people, a person 'without a cause.'
they cannot answer the question previously asked. They cannot understand why they are here, or God's purpose, plans and will for their life. They go through routine and are found living without cause and purpose for the day or tomorrow. Satan blinds them, lies to them and deceives them (for this is what he does). It is one thing to not be able to answer, 'is there not a cause'; but it is far worse, to be without a cause.
3. "plead my cause" - And for you that have asked the question and found the answer in God; for you, who have waited and meditated before the Lord and have not lost your cause; you will plead His cause. You will be often quoting His Word, praying His prayers, praying in the Holy Ghost and pleading with fire for His kingdom come and His will be done. You will plead as if everything depended on your prayers and tears for that moment, for well you know it does. Someone will draw their last breath today and enter eternity tonight, and there in hell forever because they did not know the cause of life, they were found without a cause and they stood before God and He said, 'Depart from Me, ye worker of iniquity'.
Pleading for the cause is the 3 terms that I sense as utterly a must for the prayer movement today - pleading with fervency - urgency - emergency. Pleading for souls to 'pull them out of the fire'. Pleading for God's kingdom to advance, and for hell's kingdom to retreat. Pleading for the things on God's heart much more than the things on my/our heart. Pleading with a spiritual eye viewing eternity and the future of man's existence here on earth. Pleading for holiness among the church; pleading against sin in the camp. Pleading for homes to be delivered and redeemed; pleading against homes that pervert, abuse, and destroy lives of family.
Oh, my brethren, 'is there not a cause?' Yes, there is! then plead the cause of Christ for today. For the future of tomorrow depends on it.
Prayer Targets:
1. Unrest in Nations - I don't remember a time with so many capitals under distress. I cannot even remember them all, but will try to put them before you for these nation having protests in their streets.
--Baghdad, Iraq;
--Hong Kong;
--Santiago, Chile;
-- Paris, France;
--Madrid, Spain;
--Beirut, Lebanon;
--La Paz, Bolivia;
--Ecuador protest have seemed to come to a halt;
2. Evil - again the spiritual warfare upon us is immense; few recognize it and fewer fight against it; Two things are at the deciding point of this, minds and hearts. Pray towards that end of what is being done in men's minds and hearts that leads them to do such evil things. All actions of evil comes from this. Shootings, abuse, perversions, responses comes from evil minds and hearts that are fueled by Satan and his demons that insight men to follow through with such horrible deeds. Even now, it is being worked out in someones mind and heart to act out on such evil deeds.
3. Judgements that are upon us to bring a complete annihilation of our nation and future. This is not recognized by many among church leaders.
--birthrates are now below level to maintain population; we are dying faster than being born; and those living are dying faster than normal due to plagues of drugs, cancer, murder and other issues;
--record numbers of state that bring about this demise - suicide rates; homicide rates; abortions and birth control; STD has hit over 2 million cases, highest ever (directly from fornication and adultery) a sin which is rarely confessed and dealt with by church;
--disease is continued rampant in cancer and other plagues upon us;
--food sources are dwindling; bees, viruses, ecoli, etc. all tainting and removing our food and supplies to continue;
--disintegration of society; lack of respect for law; corruption among leaders; pride; home is obliterated;
3. Many of the first 2 prayer targets are drawn from the 6 epidemics upon our land. Continue to pray for these issues at hand and escalating.
--great evil has been some what quiet throughout this month; schools safe and mass shooting limited; However, a great surge in evil is building in God's judgement against us. I foresee that we will be devastated against shortly by death and dying.
--natural disasters are always active as we have seen this year; wildfires in CA; floods abroad; but earthquakes over 7.0 are long overdue and it is upon us to see one shortly. As always, it depends on remote area or populated area for extinct of disaster.
4. Prayer Movement - much is being said about the pockets of increased prayer emphasis; And this is glorious to hear. Is it a sound of the wind in the mulberry trees? Too many forget God's ways in these times. Remember Manasseh and Josaih's kingdom and the prophecy of Jeremiah. Revival came for a short time under Josiah, but then God said He would judge the nation for the sins of Manasseh and the blood he shed. I believe this is our plight now. A season of revival and at the end of it, or in the middle of it, the judgement of God upon our nation. A purifying of the church, persecution upon the church worldwide; and the beginning of greater sorrows. But while we have today, make the most of it for His glory and kingdom. We are not there yet, be much about prayer for His kingdom.
