INTERCESSION

Greetings,
"And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.  And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin and wilt Thou be wroth with all the congregation?"   Numbers 16:20 - 22

"But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of the Lord.   And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation:  and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the Lord appeared.   And Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation.  And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,  Get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them as in a moment.  And they fell upon their aces.  And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them:  for there is wrath gone out from the Lord; the plague is begun.    And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people:  and he put on incense, and made an atonement for the people.  And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed."   Numbers 16:41 - 48

The role of the intercessor has become to me the most important thing that a Christian and the church can learn.   Now an intercessor is not just a person that prays.  For there are many that pray and say prayers.  Buddhists pray, Muslums pray, Hindus pray, religious folk pray and even Christians pray.   But simply because one prays, does not mean that their prayers are heard or answered.  Yea, the very work point and purpose in prayer is so to be heard that the prayer may be answered.  I fear that the Christian and the church today prays and hast learned to say prayers to ease their conscience and pass their burden to a religious duty done.   But the intercessor rises above this notion to accomplish something beyond himself or his desires and wishes.  Yea, it is to learn that the work of the intercessor is the work of God.

This chapter 16 in Numbers is a perfect example and illustration of the intercessors responsibility and duty.   Twice, found within this chapter, is the situation between God and man/His people.   God's wrath is provoked, and life and death are held within a moments response by Moses and Aaron as they intercede.   This was not just one moment that fell upon them that they rose up in rebellion against God and against Moses, but this had been building.   It is the progression of evil.

THE PROBLEM

Sin is always the problem.   From Numbers chapter 11 through chapter 16, we see over and over these several chapters the progression of evil.  We see the continual problem of sin arising.   They complained about the food.  They complained about water.  They complained about the living conditions.   The complained about God's choosing of the priest and Levities.   They complained about Moses and Aaron ruling over them.  They complained about God.  'Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.'   And through all this complaining from the psychical, to the spiritual, at the root of it is the sin of rebellion.  'We will not have this man to rule over us.'   Lost men will not submit nor surrender to the Lord God.   Rebellion is always at the root of such sin.  From Satan's rebellion from God in heaven; to Adan and Eve's rebellion in the garden (bolstered by Satan's temptation) to our hearts rebellion, it is a root cause of our folly.   And the intercessor is a skilled surgeon to go beyond the superficial, and to get to the root cause of sin and the issues that needs intercession.

This progression of evil was climaxed here in chapter 16 with two incidents needing an intercessor to deliver their rebellion from the Lord utterly consuming them from annihilation.   From Numbers 11 through chapter 16 they had continued to murmur, question, and assault the Lord's servants.   Each time these things progressed, the greater the anger of God toward them for their unbelief and all their sin.   This great sin of rebellion was progressing continually and affecting the whole congregation.  "A little leaven, leavens the whole."  It is necessary to understand that when rebellion is allowed it will continue to esclate and face the severe wrath of the Lord.  this wrath of the Lord had climaxed now to two incidents where God was done and was ready to 'remove them from the earth.'

It is necessary that the intercessor understands such sins that continue to provoke and anger the Lord.  Whether this sin is done by

THE RESPONSE

God's response to their progression of evil was to destroy them.  Life and death was before them.  Time was of the essence.  I read where Aaron was commanded by Moses to go, because the plague had already began from the Lord.   And Aaron ran to get to the dividing line of 'life and death'.   Oh, brethren, are we not there?!   All around us in our day is life and death.  Some soul drug overdoses to death;  some soul, hopeless, commits suicide;  some soul gunned down on the streets;  some soul plagued with disease is facing eternity.   And here we are, called of God, to plead with Him for grace and mercy.  To plead for life, not just life here, but eternal life there with Him.   As Jonathan Edwards preached it, 'you walk on a pie crust; and at any moment you can break through and drop down into an eternal hell fire.'   God holds yours/theirs steps, your/their breath and gives them time.  Time to respond, time to be saved, time to repent.  One more prayer, one more tear, one more moment, one more invitation and then, the end.   One more breath and then eternity.   And the intercessor, with their eternal plight hanging before their eyes and souls, cries out in anguish, in honor for His Son, His great name, to deliver them, to save them to make them His'.    Oh, what a response is needed by the intercessor for this which is at stake.

THE REMEDY

If it was not for God's mercy, grace, longsuffering none of us would exist or survive.   Are we not all sinful and vile?  Have we all not practiced, loved and adhered to world, flesh and Satan to sin against the Lord?   Had it not been for His redemptive, gracious, Divine purpose of salvation, none of us would exist to rejoice in how great our Savior is.   Even Paul wrote to the Corinthians, 'such were some of you' before their redemption and salvation.   But God in His purposes saves and redeems and works a mighty work of deliverance.   Moses was such a man that God raised up for such a time to deliver His people from His wrath.

We know that Christ is our great Intercessor, Who pleas with His heavenly Father on our behlaf.  First for our salvation; then for our sanctification.   The Happy Goodman family used to sing a song, 'Somebody Prayed For Me"; and I believe herein is our salvation done, God moves someone to pray for us.   And as we are prayed for, so we turn to pray and interecede for others and their salvation.  This is the great work of God through prayer and by prayer.  As He has done and is doing, so do we.   This is Christ-likeness.

Then we continue to pray and intercede for all the other things that are at stake, in jeopardy, and assaulted by Satan and hell.   We see the needs, we hear the cries and we know that the labor of prayer is put into motion to deliver, protect, empower, encourage, and overcome for our Lord's glory.   We see and hear as God sees and hears and His heart cry, becomes ours in intercession.   God's eyes run to and fro throughout all the earth to show Himself mighty.   And this has how He has ordained it.

So let us be faithful to approach our Intercessor on the throne, seated at the right hand of the Father.  Let us be often in our secret closets.  Let us pray so as to prevail.

A WARNING - When You See These Things Happening

Greetings,

"And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads, for your redemption draweth nigh."  Luke 21:28

Things are happening in 'record' and 'historic' fashion.  None of it good.  But the Lord is revealing to His church, His remnant, that He is up to something.   Over the last 10 years, the escalation of death and destruction is right before our eyes, especially with social media reporting more and more of world happenings.  And to see it on such a large scale in recent days and weeks is alarming.  It almost seems that that the seals and trumpets from Revelation are happening.   Although we know that those things happen on a much larger and catastrophic unfolding.   But there is no doubt, that the Lord is revealing the beginning of what those things shall look like.

Why?  Why would God reveal these things to us.  There are a couple of things that we need to be aware of and greatly alarmed about.

1.   Understanding why we are here, for here and now

"For such a time as this. . . "  God has seen fit to give us life and opportunity.   God makes no mistakes and knows all things; past, present and future.   And with that knowledge of God, there is a specific reason why we are here, and why now.   Now we are finite, He is inifinte.  We, or I, cannot understand the depth of all this.  But this much is certain with what we know;  God has placed us here, for 'such a time as this' in the work that He is, and will do for His Names sake and kingdom sake.   Everything about our lives, the church, nations, politics etc. are all be arranged as God sees fit for this purpose.

Discerning the Scripture to see the times that are upon us in these events that we are discussing and seeing happen and unfold in the headlines.  Let us not be ignorant of what Christ said about such moments of tribulations and persecutions.   Let us see the and recognize that the intensity of these things are greatly increasing.   A few decades ago, you would be hard pressed throughout an entire year to find one of these headlines happening.   But now, they are not only happening each month, but several during a week.  And as this example in this blog posts is affirming, multiple events over a weeks time.   This is no accident; but a great shaking.

2.   God is revealing that time is running out

With the acceleration and increase in volume of these headlines and happenings, it is a warning of what is happening and what will happen.   Now God, as we have said, knows all things.   These are no mysteries or secrets unto Him.  But unto us, it is not fully revealed.   But again, we see enough to know that the purpose of God is behind all these things.   That which has been left unfulfilled is being brought to pass.   We have such a sinful mindset within the church; and absolutely out of the church, that this life will always continue 'as is'.   but we should know better from Scripture, that God shifts and changes as He sees fit.   Christ was there during the roman Empire controlling Jerusalem and all the world, but He foretold that the city of Jerusalem's days were limited.   And within a few decades it all changed.   Within a few centuries, it all changed.

The heightened increase and severity of these happenings are alarming for several reasons.
1.   Souls are being destroyed in large fashion by the 1000's and they are dying without Christ.
2.  The depth of the severity is increasing.  This is compared to Leviticus 26, where God speaks of judgement and for their continued disobedience, He will increase it each time by 7 fold.   At last reaching a point of utter destruction.
3.   That these are only the beginning of sorrow and that which is to come, is horrifying to consider.

3.  Greatest need of our lives is before us

Knowing now that these things are set into motion for His purpose, we should be much more alarmed, urgent and desperate to see our loved ones rescued, the church holy and Spirit filled; and our own lives 'taking heed' to all His ways and to be found right in His sight.   The sands in the hourglass are running low and this should press the church to quit playing church and get before Him to know what He would have us to do.

Recently in talking Doug Stringer, on a few of these things, he made the comment, 'Dan, I'm more pressed now to get the church ready for what may be."   I agree with that whole-heartedly, 'get the church ready.'   REady to face all out assault and persecution.  REady to die, be spent and give up all for His Name sake, no matter what the cost.   The urgency should be upon us to get ready the answer, 'am I right with You O Lord?'   "will You say to me, 'Well Done":?"  For God will not say, 'well done' to those that have not done well.   IT is a major time to get right with God.

HAPPENINGS:

--MOZAMBIQUE - major storm;  death toll rising to over 1000;   huge area of destruction along the coast;
--Nebraska - another record storm hitting Mid-West and moving east;   'record' & 'historic' flooding;   cattle lost; cities flooded;   record setting today, 3/18 for Nebraska and Kansas;
--New Zealand - mass shooting in mosque;  50 dead, over 30 still hospitalized;
--Netherlands - another city shooting, reports still coming in;
--Australia - major huuricanes to impact east & west;
--Democratic Congo - ebola virus;  over 1000 affected;  close to 600 deaths;
--Brazil - school shooting 10 dead;
--US - unusally high suicide happenings among movie/TV stars thus far in 2019;  this is coupled with the trend already in place of 3X higher rates as in years gone by, especially among young people, police officers and military;
--Papua, New Guinea - flooding;  80 dead from storms;
--Nigeria - 100's of Christians are being slaughtered by Muslims ravaging the Christian villages;

WHAT IS TO BE DONE?
Just as God revealed the great famine coming to Pharaoh and allowed for Joseph to be there to interpret that dream, for the saving of God's covenant people.   So, God reveals things to us to cause us to awake out of our slumber and arise to meet the great need of salvation to the lost, direction for the church and empowerment for His people to complete the task of the Gospel.   God wants to do something, therefore, He causes a burden to come to His people to seek Him like never before.

Three things to be done:
1.  A Call to Prayer - there have been probably 1000's of these calls to pray;   some for a day, some for 21 days;  some for day in and day out;   All of which God may receive and work through.   It is not so much to me the call to prayer, or even to those that say, they are praying.   It is the kind of prayer that is being done.
1.  many thinks that everyone is praying;   this is not the reality of the church today;   my studies last year and letters appealing to SBC leadership and churches that only about 12 - 15% have any kind of a monthly corporate prayer meeting.   This is largely due, to the fact that many Christians have no secret closet time with the Lord.   how offended leadership becomes when you question their prayer life!!    Simply because a call is issued to pray - or someon posts, "Pray for. . . ."  does not mean that they are praying.   We must acknowledge that we have a healthy prayer life privately and corporately.   And if found in sin for prayerlessness, immediately confess and repent.

2.  A Call to Holiness -

3.   A Call to Speak and Share the Gospel -

Until,
Dan

PRAYER BLOG - MARCH 15

Greetings,

II Chronicles 12 - a lesson for us;
12:1 - 'they forsook the Lord"
12:2 - "because they had transgressed against the Lord"
12:5 - "Then came the prophet. . . and said. . . Thus saith the Lord, Ye have forsaken Me, and therefore have I also left yo in the hand of Shishak."
12:6 - "Whereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, 'The Lord is righteous.'"
12:7 - "And when the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance and My wrath shall not be poured out. . . "
12:12 - "And when he humbled himself, the wrath fo the Lord turned from him, that He would not destroy him altogether:  and also in Judah things went well."
12:14 - "And he did evil because he prepared not his heart to seek the Lord."

The activity of God in light of man's response fascinates me and instructs me.    How much God desires to do for His people, for the nations; and all for His glory.  Yet, look at the responses of man to God, as in this passage.   See the parallel between Rehoboam and Judah toward God and our mirror response as a nation and as the church.   Both of our nation and the churches response must be examined.   They are two distinct entities; yet, they are one, for the church is within the nation.   There is a remnant of the saved among the masses of a lost, heathen nation.   A nation that has legalized and issued judicial edicts that are abominations in His sight and abhor the good and right ways of God.   We have done much, as a nation, to provoke Him to anger and wrath.   The church has done little to plead in turning His wrath away from us and our cities and population.

Evil had come to Judah and Jerusalem, and their lives, their future and their hope as God's people was about to be taken away.  Why?  because they had forsaken the Lord.   and in response to them forsaking Him, He forsook them.   And when God is absent from a nation, then the evils of hell come in as a flood.   They attack physical, spiritual and emotional areas of all life.   They attack young and old, individuals, families, cities and regions, populated and unpopulated areas.  They are found in all facets, because God is withdrawn and forsaken.   His protection, His blessings, His Divine Presence (Ichabod), His healing, His redemption, and His power are removed due to the sins of the people.   Yet there is an answer and Judah found it - 'they humbled themselves & they sought the Lord'.

Could it be that the Lord is simply waiting for us to humble ourselves & seek Him?   Yes He is.   But will we?  this is the question left for the church.   In recent weeks, there has been several large and small groups doing this very thing, I rejoice in it.  However, it is the remnant of the remnant.   Now God is not limited in the few or the many to respond.   Yet see in Scripture it was the whole that sought and humbled themselves, not just the few.   And why should the few be counted, when God has called the whole to respond?

The nation does not know this truth, nor have they seen or heard it called for by the church.  A nation will never do that which the church is not doing.  Yet, when the church does it, then the by God's grace the nation may follow.   See here in this passage, Rehoboam the king forsook the Lord, then the nation forsook the Lord.   But when the princes and the king humbled themselves, then the people humbled themselves.   the people respond to the leadership.    Oh, that we may understand this truth of our day.    We have forsaken the Lord and His wrath has gone out to destroy us.   He gives us time to humble ourselves and the pleas and calls to humble and pray have largely been left undone.   "You ought not to have left these things undone."

We are in a most crisis hour right now as our nation.   The church needs to respond and to do so rightly.   Whether the nation will or not, is in the hands of the Lord.  I know He is able to do so, but if the church never does it, they never will.   These last hours and days have been with great evil, that shows us how far God is from us because we have forsaken Him.   Allow for me to list (may you see and look at these things):
These are not just things our nation/land.
--lawyer/husband/father in Mass.  kills wife, 3 children and himself - murder-suicide;
--mother in FL kills daughter;
--Nebraska flood, 10,000's of people/homes in great need;
--drug overdose deaths continue;
--George Foremans 42 yr old daughter suicide;   17 yr old FL girl commits suicide during school hours on school property;   - suicides rage
--New Zealand - mosque shootings - 49 dead;
--Mozambigue massive storm - over 200 dead; hospitals, homes flooded and destroyed;
--Brazil school shooting - over 10 dead;

Oh, do you see the plight of the nations!   Do you not see it is because we have forsaken Him?   He awaits for us to humble ourselves.   I am left like Ezekiel when he saw the angel mark the saints which feared the Lord and those that did not; and then the angel was sent to kill all those that feared not the Lord.   And as they were all being killed, Ezekiel cried out, 'Lord, will you slay us all?'   I am here!!    Oh brethren, the hour is late, the need is great and the spirit of prevailing is so needed.

The last great hope of the church is to follow this response of Judah.   It is to humble ourselves before Him;  it is to remember Who He is and what He has said;  it is to recognize our high offense against Him and His ways;  it is to restore holiness among His people and our heart and hands.  "For Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord but he that has clean hands, a pure heart and a tongue that has not spoken deceit."   And a pleading for His mercy, "in wrath remember mercy" and know that the enemy, just like king of Egypt, has come to desetroy us all.   Our homes, our children, our future; and are we content to do so, without a tear, without a heart cry, without a pleading for the God of all to show Himself mighty.   and that there is a people that loves Him, fears Him and needs Him this hour.   Much is against us, but He is mighty to save!   "Nothing is too hard for the Lord!"

Two years have gone by, and church and prayer leaders received this call to Concerts of Prayer.  It is the answer to respond to our day of evil.   But it is always rejected and refused.   Nevertheless the call and invitation is still extended, that in hope of the Lord's mercy some leader will say, "we can't go on like this; something must be done.  Let us try these Concerts of Prayer and seek the Lord with worship - confession - petition.  Who knows if the Lord will turn and repent and leave a blessing behind Him?'

PRAYER BLOG - MARCH 13

Greetings,
"And it shall be answered, Because they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them:  therefore hath He brought all this evil upon them."  II Chronicles 7:22

the consistency of God's nature, ways and attributes are consistent.   Yea, one of the ost memorizing of His attributes is immutable.   'He changes not'; '"the same yesterday, today and forever' is immutable.   Too many want to separate the God of the Old Testament and God of the New Testament; but He is One in the same.  So when I read the last phrase of this verse, 'He (God) brought all this evil upon them" because they had forsaken Him, I am fully aware that He can/will/may do the same today to a nation, His church, a family or an individual.

We are in a time of great evil coming upon us in our nation.   Now it is in all the world, but we se our nation, blessed beyond all others; great outpouring of God's favor, great preachers, Great Awakenings, ability to do much for the kingdom.   Yet, all the while, in these last decades; in my lifetime, great evil has come to our cities, homes, schools, and streets; within the very minds and hearts of men great evil has come.

George Foreman, boxing champion of days gone by, over this past weekend, his 42 year old daughter committed suicide.   In the first 2 1/2 months of this year, recognized celebrities are committing suicide in fashion with military and society.   Young people, military and police officers are committing suicide 3X faster than years gone by.   This is a great evil that has come upon us.
Now couple this with the drug and alcohol deaths and you have 150,000 deaths per year.   A stat that will continue and I fear in great fashion.

In light of these great evils coming upon us, the church has identified a standard of 'praying after the great evil'.   When a tragedy, death, calamity unfolds, you see it splashed on social media, 'Pray for . . . ".   But what some have learned that there is the means to pray preventive prayers before the tragedy.   Recently the Lord's Spirit moved to pray for a great evil was getting ready to unfold.   Contact was made to prayer partners and cries and prayers were offered up for deliverance.  The next day, the news revealed of the Coast Guard officer who had a hit list and was ready to kill as many as he could.   Great evil was prevented.   Time and time again this truth is being worked out, a much better resolve to pray than praying after the great evil.

We  must begin to see the two fold ways that are upon us.   The sin mentioned in this verse is that they had forsaken the Lord and all His ways.   This is what ushers in the great evil upon them.   The confession, repentance and restoration must be done by the church to cause this to cease.   But because there is not a moment as such, greater evils have come upon us.   God sends the great evil; or God allows Satan to cause the great evil.   This is a fine line; hard to be distinguished, but it is there never the less.   Understanding that the reason is the same, 'you have forsaken Me.'

The crisis hour is upon us because greater evils have been done by man; and God will respond with greater evils upon our nation.   We now have continued advancement of the LGBT agenda in BOE, city councils, county commissioners and churches.    We have laws legalizing infanticide and assisted suicide to the elderly.   What an escalation in my lifetime is this of death and destruction!

Note the assaults of Satan in a few 'D" words - death; destruction; distraction and
All these are revealing that Satan is being allowed to bring great evil upon a nation, church, families and person(s).   Our great warfare is to engage this spiritual warfare and 'war a good warfare'.

PRAYER TARGETS:
--Venezuela - major crisis for humanitarian needs as well as the spiritual warfare here;  again death and destruction;

THE ACTIVITY OF GOD IN THE BIBLE - II CHRONICLES

The Activity of God

Going through the Bible, book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse, phrase by phrase and word by word to give attention to the following:
--the Names of God;
--the word & deeds of God;
--the sayings of God;
--the attributes of God;

Too often the churches weakness and the Christians weakness is found in this one sin, 'we do not know God'.  We have not studied the Bible, nor Him to learn more of Him.  Seeking that this might be a help for myself and others in this pursuit that each of us 'may grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord.'

II CHRONICLES
Chapter 1
1:1      and the Lord his God was with him and magnified him exceedingly     God is with His children and His people;   God is able and willing to magnify them exceedingly for His glory;
1:3     there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God which Moses the servant of the Lord had made in the wilderness      God's tabernacle of the congregation;   God's servant Moses;
1:4      but the ark of God     God's ark;
1:5      he put before the tabernacle of the Lord    God's tabernacle and altar before Him;
1:6     the brasen altar before the Lord     God's brazen altar that Solomon offered before Him and unto Him;
1:7     In that night did God appear unto Solomon and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.    God appears to Solomon at night;  And God said/spoke;   God allows Solomon to ask anything of Him, Who is able to give him anything;
1:8     And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.     God hears when His children speak unto Him;   God shows great mercy to His children;   God caused David to reign as king;
1:9      Now, O Lord God, let Thy promised unto David my father be established:  for Thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.     God promised David the throne to be established by his descendants;   God made Solomon king over His people Israel;
1:11     And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked. . . but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge My people, over whom I have made thee king:     And God said/spoke;    God knew what was in his heart;   God heard what he had asked, and knew what was not asked for;   God's people Israel;   God made him king;
1:12      Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee, and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.     God grants him his request;   God gives wisdom and knowledge to him;   I will's of God to also give riches, wealth, honour;   God makes it that none like him before or after in these things;
Chapter 2
2:1     And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the Lord, and an house for His kingdom.      God's Name;   God's house built to worship His Name;   God's house for His kingdom;
2:4     Behold, I build an house to the Name of the Lord my God, to dedicate it to Him, and to burn before Him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread. . . and on the solemn feasts of the Lord our God.     God's house to built for His Name sake;   God's house to be built to receive sacrifice, offerings and incense brought before Him;
2:5     for great is our God above all gods.    God is great;   God is above all gods;
